I'm looking for the best TN-panel monitor. This monitor will mainly be used for games and movies. The secondary use will be design.
Color accuracy and great black levels and contrast are important. 1080p or 1200p are a must. Needs to have DVI input.
I've been looking at the Acer G245H BMID (glossy) but can find very few reviews of it or even stock. It almost seems like it doesn't actually exist.
I've also been looking at the PX2370 (LED) from Samsung, but the general consensus is there are "much better panels for much cheaper" out there.
The BenQ XL2410T (LED 120hz) is also a contender, but apparently the colors are lacking vibrancy and look overall dull. The price is also steep as it is a 3D monitor.
I would be willing to go IPS on the conditions that 1) it is NOT a panel with multiple complaints, 2) it has a good contrast ratio and 3) it is cheap.
Anyone have any suggestions? This is by far the hardest thing I've ever purchased as there's so many models out there and the reviews are often outdated or conflicting, or based around higher prices when in reality the panel is now much cheaper.

Can anyone speak for the UltraSharp U2311H 23 inch Monitor Details ?

Define cheap. What's cheap to me may not be to you, and vice versa.
The 23" Dell IPS recommended above is about the best you're going to get in that price range. -
The reason I was avoiding the Dell U2311H was because of all the reports of orange/blue tinting issues and I can't afford to ship these things back over and over to get a 'good' panel. The 8ms G2G is quite compelling, however.

Next one was flawless. -
I guess right now it's down to the BenQ 3D monitor for the kid in me and the Dell IPS for the financially responsible adult in me.

Does your laptop have dual link DVI? I think you need that for 120Hz.

Well it's really for my desktop workstation, even though this is a laptop forum...

Asking for a monitor with good accurate colors that is cheap TN panel is asking for two opposite things :/
Some sort of IPS type panel is what you need if your seeking some kind of accuracy, and to further the expense you really need a color calibration device as well.
Meh, I have 3 of themThey are pretty good monitors but I was the lab rat getting Rev 0 when it first came out and it had a lot of problems then. I had to send 2 out of 3 back for color tint issues and now I got back more Rev 0's that have the dithering issue in sRGB color space. I live with it because it was so much work to get 3 color matched monitors and no color tint issues and at that time there was no fix for the dithering, now there is though.
Just lesson learned, never buy a Dell monitor until 2 or 3 revisions of it have come out. -
I have the BenQ 3d monitor with the Nvida Vision kit, truely amazing, love it to bits, well worth the £££

But since this is for gaming and movies primarily, I don't want an IPS panel as the refresh rate is far too slow and causes ghosting in FPS games. -

A good IPS will not ghost, that is a myth and only true of technology from a decade ago.

I've only ever really used iMac IPS panels and they trail like there's no tomorrow. I read on tftcentral that the U2410 has a whopping 14ms response time and that's among the lowest I've found for IPS panels (at least in my price range).
I've ordered the Benq 3D monitor as it seems to be the best balance between calibrated color accuracy and gaming performance. Thanks everyone for your input. -

I see 6ms response time on all the reviews I have seen for the U2410 including TFTCentral.
It also depends on the mode the monitor is in. There is a mode for gaming and a mode for say photoshop/print work. -
Bear in mind that all manufacturers lie or embellish the stats of their products. With that said, you also need to pay attention to whether it is "grey to grey" (usually 2-8ms) or "black to white to black" (8-16ms).

Could I recommend the Asus VW246H? It was very popular on newegg, and I'm very satisfied with it

Take a look at Dell U2311H
Its an IPS matrix with 8ms response. Costs roughly $300-350 and i think is a great product overall at least based on the reviews.
