I am looking for a Bluetooth mouse for my laptop. I prefer one that uses AA or AAA batteries... no recharging cradle.

I have quite a few reviews and it seems that most of the Bluetooth mice go to sleep often and are aggravating to wake up.

Which one is best with respect to not being such a hassle to wake up?

This will be used with a Dell Precision M6400.

    Thanks!

Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but as far as I know every bluetooth mouse has some "wake up" time. You'll just have to live with it.

If you find that to be completely unacceptable, I would recommend the Logitech VX Nano. It's not bluetooth, it has a USB receiver, but it's so small that you wouldn't even know it's there.

    Hey there!

I'm going to have to say the one I have (and always seem to promote) :p  ....The Microsoft Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000 Mac/Win!! It a great mouse: Compact, reliable, runs on 2 AAA batt's, works very fast, no needs for software ~ it get's recognized! A great little mouse! Check it! :D

If it go's *idle* all I have had to do is move the mouse around for a few seconds, and then I'm good to go! ;)

How quit does it go idle?

The issue I have is that I use my laptop about 6 hours per day during the week and then 10-12 hours per day on the weekend... during which I take several breaks. I don't want to get aggravated at having to wake the mouse up all the time.

That VX Nano looks like the ticket really. The dongle is awfully tiny.

I use the Logitech MX Laser mouse, which was in the Logitech DiNovo Laser package included, and I think it has almost no sleep mode.
I don't experience any sort of lag and I also don't have to move the mouse a few seconds around to wake it up again. It enters the sleep mode after around 30-40 seconds, if I then move the mouse it moves the mouse cursor almost immediately, maybe 200ms later. But if you don't know it and don't wait for the lag then you won't notice the lag.

To get a BT mouse with almost no sleep mode you should search for a Laser mouse with rechargeable Li-Ion batteries, every other mouse needs a sleep mode to extend the weak battery life of normal AA batteries.

BT mice with AA batteries can hold the charge for maybe a month, I have to recharge it every second week, but therefore it is rechargeable (I don't have to buy AA batteries, or maybe AAA batteries all the time) and it has almost no sleep mode, which is much better than the longer battery life.
BT mice with AA batteries and no sleep mode won't have a battery life longer than a week.

I'm all for VX Nano. I don't really like Bluetooth mice as having BT enabled hurts battery life. I've got a Nano and I love it. :D
