I got a set of Altec Lansing MX-5021 open box at Circuit City for around $80. At the time they cost about $175 online. They discontinued them after introducing the MX-6021 so if you can find them you can probably get them really cheap. They are awesome in my opinion, only complaint is that remote is a little weak if not pointing straight at base and volume control isn't real precise.

Boom! Great for gaming and movies and pretty good for music. Love these speakers to death. Shakes my whole house if I turn then up 60%. -
You simply have to get the Logitech X-540's! They are a fantastic set of 5.1 speakers at a budget price. They may be a bit more expensive then your budget, but believe me, COMPLETELY worth it (I'd know cause I have them myself). I got them from Future Shop when they were on sale for about $129.99, but I think you could still go even cheaper if you search harder like at Newegg or something.
