I bought a MacBook Pro two weeks ago and I would like to know what are some good external speakers for it. Here is some information that will help you for your recommendation:
    Price: $100 maximum
    USB Powered: No
    Configuration: 2.0 channel
Use: music listening (85%), youtube videos (15%), Netflix movie streaming (one day per week)

I've been looking at the Bose Companion 2 Series II at BestBuy.

Other than the Bose Companion 2 Series II speakers, you may also want to check out the following 2.0 speakers that can be bought for approximately $100 or less:

Creative Labs GigaWorks T20 Series II
    M-Audio Studiophile AV 30
    M-Audio Studiophile AV 20
    Altec Lansing FX3022
    Altec Lansing FX2020
    Logitech Z320
    JBL Duet

    Good luck. :)

I'd recommend the Creative Labs GigaWorks T20 Series II or the Hercules XPS 2.0 60. In my opinion they are the best 2.0 speakers available in this price range.

The Logitech and Altec Lansing 2.0 speakers are way overpriced for the sound quality they provide.

The M-Audio Studiophile AV 30 speakers seem pretty interesting, but I have no firsthand experience with them. They are marketed as having a more balanced sound than the above-mentioned speakers (more clarity). Calling them "professional reference speakers" is probably a gross overstatement though, e.g. they have an integrated amp. What's noticeable is that they are pretty large.

Get a pair of Swan M10s, they look good next to the MBP as well as sounding good. If you can stretch a bit more AudioEngine A2s are excellent as well for 2.0.
