Hey fellas, for some reason I have broken at least 3 pairs of headphones while I was working out. They didn't necessarily break, but one side would completely lose sound followed by the other side shortly after. I don't know if it is my fault or not but I move around and run a lot so maybe build is an issue here. The headphones weren't anything special, some cheap 3rd brand earbuds, Skull Candys, and iPod Headphones that were stripped when I was using them =P

Anyways, I suppose it is time to step up to a decent pair of headphones. Any suggestions? I can only afford to spend 80 dollars or less on these babies. Of course, they will have to have a great build so I can workout knowing these things will last! I'm looking for decent sound quality and good bass.

P.S. I can only use earbuds when working out!

I think the cable on your headphones broke, I lost a pair because the wires snapped or something. I could only hear sound on the left headphone but if I wiggled the cable I would get the right headphone too..

Some great/super cheap headphones are Koss KSC75 Portable Stereophone Headphones only $15.
They have great sound quality and bass. I didn't want to spend more than $30 so when I was looking at what people recommended these were the only ones in my price range.

Yeah I assumed the cable or wiring got loose or broke completely. I am hoping that putting down the money for a decent pair of headphones that has a better build will yield this problem completely.

FWIR yuin pk2's have the best sound quality of any earbud in that price range. might want to have a look on headfi to see if anyone mentions how robust they are.

if you want something cheaper (and possibly with more bloated bass if all sennheisers cheap gear sounds the same) something like these might be an idea. they have better reviews than the over ear type since these actually stay in apparently.

an easy way to stop breaking headphone cords is to make a small loop in the cable and put an elastic band around it. this way if theres a tug on the cord the elastic band takes some of the strain.

Run the cables up over your ears, or tape/clip the cable to your shirt so it can't get pulled at where it attaches to the buds. When putting them away don't put any sharp angle pressure on the cable, from leaving it plugged in while winding it around the player. And the 80$ range is one of the hardest places to suggest IEM's I personally would add to it and get something more around 120-150. But thats just me.

Grado SR-60 (padded earphones excellent sound) could get sr-80 for around 90 $ which have improved bass
    Shure SE110 (earbuds)

You get what you pay for ofc but I've used both of those and they are really good imo, I got Shure SE530 and grado labs sr-80 which I use often I'd recommend both brands.
