Hey I'm currently currently in the market for IEMs because my current one broke. I was originally planning to buy the Sennehiser CX 380 but the problem was that if I bought it from here in New Zealand it would cost over $100 if I bought it from eBay even with the conversion it's around $60

The good thing about buying it here is that the shipping will be quicker and I know it will be genuine. But on eBay it's $40 cheaper but it could take 8-12 days to get here and there's also a risk it might be fake.

After doing some browsing I looked at other cheap IEMs like the Ultimate Ears Super FI 4 which is under $70.

Can someone please help me decide which In-Ear I can get under $70NZD I wouldn't consider myself as an Audiophile I've previously had SoundMagic PL12 and Skullcandy Titans. Boy they were horrible.

I would prefer if the earphones had good Bass I liked the Titans because it has bass that was sometimes over powering and rarely even gave me headaches but songs seemed fun to listen to. I don't really mind about highs or mids as long as it's clear but I would say bass is priority.

I'd highly recommend looking at a pair of Sennheiser CX300s. They're inexpensive, and offer great quality sound for the money. They offer strong bass as well.

They're also reliable; I've had mine for years now and they're still going (albeit, recently one side has been quieter than the other)

I have a pair of Sony MDR-76, they've lasted a year now. They have pretty good sound, are very comfortable and has a two-part wire. At $20 I'd say they are a steal. That said I've heard great things about Sennheiser.

    Hey thanks for the comments.

@gdansk, i looked at the earphones and they look pretty cool unfortuenetly I'm unable to find them at any stores. Yeah I hear great things about Sennheiser

@EvilCorsair, Yeah I found an awesome deal for CX 300 for $70. Retail CX 300 would run for $115 and these are genuine a guy has the reciept from an authorized Sennheiser store. But for $70 I could get the Ultimate Ears Super FI 4 do you think the CX 300 has more bass? Because I guess it's between these two now.

$70 for a pair of CX300s? That's a ripoff, really. I could get a new pair for about $30-$40 (USD). Oh well.

I'd still recommend them, but I can't really compare them to other earphones as the only other ones I've owned are the Bose pair (which broke after 3 months...don't buy Bose earphones, ever.) The bass is high enough for my liking but again that's down to personal opinion.

Yeah it is a rip off but the economy in New Zealand sucks due to volume
Of sales, cost of shipping etc.

I bought the CX 300 hopefully they are what I'm looking for.

I payed $20AU for my CX-300's brand new. It was on sale for cheap at mymemory.co.uk but it was 1st series and asymmetrical cable.

The series 2 (CX300-II) can be had for about 22GBP ($45NZD) delivered to your door. Mymemory is an official Sennheiser reseller.

@flipfire, damn how could i forgot about MyMemory my friend showed me that site before. I guess when i receive my earphones i could easily sell it. The only annoying thing about buying overseas is I'm not old enough for the bank I'm with to own a Debit Card.

@DetlevCM, according to PriceSpy IE6's would run around $200.

Too bad :( I was hoping they'd be reasonable in your area.. my IE8 were 195€ nearly 2 years ago via Amazon, the IE7 tended to sell for around 150€

    -> the "big names" are:
Sennheiser (IE range only -> too pricey I suppose :()
    Ultimate Ears
    Klipsch
Etymotic (or how they spell themselves)
    Westone

-> I linked a review earlier, that will give you an even better overview.
On that note - I know that my Sony EX85 sound rather tiny and shallow compared to my IE8 (-> you really notice it when you compare them), an when I researched IEMs and settled on my IE8 I found comments to the extent that even the high end Sonys don't offer a good soundstage and especially "spacial awareness" or how you'd like to call it.

If you have a regular savings account you can use paypal. You just need to transfer money to the paypal account first.

In Your price range i would highly recommend the Hippo Pearls. Which run at about $45. MEElectronics makes very good inexpensive IEM's. The head-fi link above is a very good source for info. I would stay away from the Sennheiser low end models.

Up your budget a bit then you will find Triple Fi 10's and ER4-series..

They are both top-notch, no "upgrades" but from then on you will change accordingly to your musical tastes... :D

Might be on the upper echelon of your price range, but I happen to have an extra unopened/unused set of both Triple Fi 10s and Monster Turbines -- either are great IEMs (Triple Fis are more accurate and better soundstage, Monsters have huge bass). They've just been sitting around since X-mas taking up space :) PM me if interested.
