Whats the best joystick out there for PC games?

i.e. Streety Fighter IV and any other fighting games.

    Thanks!

Joysticks are typically best used for flight games rather than street fighter. Game pads, such as the xbox controller are used for games such as street fighter.

Which is it that you are interested in?

Well, there is not really much out there in the way of pre-fabricated joysticks.

The best one that was produced was probably the Mad Catz Street Fighter 4 Tournament Edition Stick, but it was a special limited edition type deal so they only made so many of them.

Most people really serious about this build there own (I did) and it can be done rather cheap, but if you want a really professional stick you can buy one off of somebody that builds them.

Also you can look into the X-Arcade stuff and a few other custom stick makers.

I'll tell you know a big problem with SF4, almost all sticks use a keyboard encoder for PC and SF4 only supports 1st player with a keyboard. So the 2nd player must use a controller.

If you get a controller encoder like I just recently did, it seems SF4 STILL wont let me use it for 2nd player as none of my buttons show up to the game as the "start button" because in VS mode it tells me to press start on the controller I want player 2 to use and none of the buttons work.

Both joysticks work though if I go into the game menu options and select it as my player 1 device.

Your only guarantee right now for a working 2 player joystick setup is to use hacked xbox 360 controllers as your encoder, or to use a 32bit OS and use a keyboard encoder with PPjoy to convert it into a virtual joystick for Windows.

Back to the actual joysticks, I built mine with Happ stuff, thats what you find in most American arcade games, strong parts, and cheap and easy to build with.

But the actual SF4 arcade and many/most of those really good custom stick builders that build figthing sticks use Sanwa or Seimitsu

    Links for you:

http://forums.shoryuken.com/index.php - A forum dedicated to stick making, and fighting games and stuff. People there seem a bit snobby to me but it has a lot of resources in the stickies and tech talk section.

http://arcadecontrols.com/arcade.htm - A website & forum, more mature crowd here, mostly dedicated to building actual arcade cabinets and not just a joystick, but building the joysticks is a part of that, so you can get a lot of good info here. These are mostly retro gamers thus the older more mature crowd vs Shoryuken.

http://www.xgaming.com/ - Sells pretty popular joysticks, though you will get bashed for having one in an enthusiast forum, its still way better than you can get for any console/pc specific joysticks and had a good warranty.

If you can nap a SF4 TE stick for a reasonable price, get it! Thats grade A stuff.

If you want some motivation here is my desk.. er arcade... er joysticks!

Im finding a lot of sales

Going rate $150, best joystick you can buy though probably.

(Note its the PS3 & Xbox 360 sticks work on PC, though some people have had issues getting the PS3 one to work)

Also if you want to import Hori makes the best sticks, but I think your best off with the Madcatz stuff.

Here is a review sort of for the products:

I typically use a PlayStation-to-USB adapter for games like Street Fighter. I have plenty of PS2 arcade sticks that I'd like to get the most use of. They're also perfect for custom sticks pictured above!

Because of needs like this, Triangle Laptops will be carrying these adapters very shortly and for <$10.
