Has anyone tried the Air Desk http://www.airdesks.com ? This seems to be a unit with maximum flexibility for angling the notebook, mouse and accessories up to a height of 42" (so could include standing as well as sitting) ? It is expensive so I wondered if any of you have tried it and can recommend for/against it, or have some other alternatives to suggest.

I do not know what your budget is, but Target sells a laptop desk just like that one for alot cheaper ($49.99-79.99)., also I believe Walmart sells them too. Try through their websites, with the back to school sales, it maybe listed under there. I know for sure Target is. ( www.target.com and www.walmart.com) hopes this helps...

I seen that one before, IMO that thing is ugly and way over priced for a laptop desk. And it doesn't look easy to move, the thing is so tall and the base is probably heavy to prevent a laptop from tiping over. If you really need a "desk" without actually buying a desk, get a TV tray ( As Seen on TV! Tray) granted it's a little White-Trashish/Senior-Citizenish
I ended up going to the local Office Depot and buying the smallest desk they had to put in my dinning room off to the side. I lucked out because they had this ultra compact foldable desk on display that has a small black ink stain. Actually they had two displays, and I talked to the store manager and he gave me a sweet deal on the display with the black stain. $49 was the sale price + 25% Off because there was no box or UPC barcode + another 10% Off because it was a display/returned item. Turned out the stain was removable with mild dish soap, so I'm pretty happy.
An even better solution would be to get a lapdesk. I have one made by targus and it works pretty good. Theres also the Lapinator which is supposed to be a lot better but not foldable. -
Thanks for the tips . This is what I found on Target

The problems with the above are I need to use the laptop with a recliner and on a bed due to a disability. The Walmart unit isn't high enough to do that at 26" and the Target and Office Depot units don't look like the base/casters would slide under the side of a recliner or bed too easily. What appears to be the best feature of the air desk is the laptop is suspended almost in air at any angle and the base looks like it will slide under tight spaces.
However, I will check Target and Office Depot in person and let you all know - in the interim, any other suggestions are much appreciated ! -
Okay, well a disability does change the dynamics of things. My opinion was based largely on the fact that it wouldn't be good if you planned on having it by the couch one minute, then later by your bed, then in your kitchen, etc. But if your in a situation where you'll be stationary to one area for a while and have no need for mobility then that airdesk might work out for you. And I haven't seen a desk with as low as a profile as that one, that in itself might limit your options to the airdesk.
That Target desk is pretty cool - Office Depot used to carry it and I remember looking at it in person. In fact it was that desk I was originally shopping for but OfficeDepot didn't have any more so I bought a display of a different desk. Some office depots might still have it and because it's technically "clearenced" you might be able to get a good deal (assuming it fits your needs). I bet you could even omit the wheels and instead use those white furnature mover discs that you find in 99 cent stores. Their little white plastic discs you use as feet to glide over carpet and tile. But then again I don't know how much clearence you have/need. -
IKEA has nice desks, but way over my budget...

Just go cheap like me, get one of those folding dinner tables that sells for 10-15 bucks at walmart. I got mine in the camping section and it's aluminum.

OK Guys, I tried the Target $48 laptop desk model Ameriwood model 556593-it's nice but just won't tuck in under recliners and beds easily and has a bigger profile. So I gave up and ordered the costly Air Desk with one large shelf. I will let you know how I like it.
