Alright, I'm starting to get a little annoyed with the touchpad on my Dell I6000. It works well, 90% of the time, but I find if I use it for an extended period of time, the responsiveness decreases drastically (most likely because all the natural oil on your skin gets depleted when using the touchpad for extended times) and I have to either switch fingers, or dampen my finger again. Regardless, I'm looking to purchase a good laptop mouse, preferrably corded and optical, because I don't want to have to deal with batteries. Can anyone suggest a good, reasonably priced notebook mouse? I've already scouted Best Buy, Future Shop, and Grand & Toy, not to mention Microsoft, and have come up with only a couple options that I like. :decision:

The logitech MX series, or their other Optical series are all very good.
I think the MX5xx series is corded, look at those! -
i have the logitech mediaplay wireless optical mouse...it is the best mouse that i have ever had
-
I've always been impressed with Logitech, I have the x530 speakers, their Messenger webcam(which I dont use..), their Optical Wireless mouse, a wired optical mouse and soon, I may be getting their MX1000, the first Laser wireless mouse
-
i wanted a lazer mouse...but it always costed too much for me
-
Yea, I'm trying to find the cheapest so I can use the $20 rebate
-
CHEAP BUT GOOD!!!!
I've been using the Microsoft Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse, and i've been using it for about 3 months now and the batteries still havent died yet. Its small and you have to get use to it first. It comes in Black or Slaight Blue. If your looking for a basic Optical mouse this a recomened buy!!!

LOGITECH V500!
I love this mouse. Coolest design ever. And probably the best optical sensor ever on a notebook mouse. This mouse is sweet. I'd buy another for my PC but it doesn't have a back button - my only gripe. -
What the hell is a "laptop mouse"? We're talking about regular mice here.
-
...the topic is "best LAPTOP mouse"
i've got a microsoft notebook optical mouse and it works fine. the only problem with it is a relatively short cord. -
I want to buy the Gigabyte optical wireless mouse, as it looks pretyt cool, and it charges FROM the usb which is pretyt neat.
Too bad it runs about $44 here.. -
that's pretty cool...i'll check that out
-
Thanks!! I'll check all of them out. I think I'm going to go with Logitech though.
-
i went with Logitech...and can't say how pleased i am
-
Logitech mouses are pretty good, I find them better then the Microsoft ones.
They have a huge range and variety.
here are some reviews and pics for the mouse...
It's only sold in Asia, but I found them imported to here.

I use Logitech MX300. It's really good!
-
I use a logitech MX518. Its a gaming mouse, but i use it for normal surfing as well. Very good mouse!
-
I just bought my MX1000 at best buy for $49.99. They're doing a $30 instant rebate right now only until the 30th of this month.
-
The Logitech MX1000 is a great buy! It feels like it was tailored for your hand...well your right hand that is. It is a very smooth operating mouse and battery life is good. If you can find anything near 50-60 dollars, buy it!
-
Yea, I would but the price is still kinda high in my opinion....
oye.... -
I bought the Logitech MX510, in red, which is doing great so far, but taking a little adjusting after my cramped fingers from the TouchPad. I like the "Cruise Control" buttons though, and I really enjoy the fact that I have mouse-based control of my web browser. Hurray!
Either way, I'd reccomend it, it's an excellent mouse, and only around $60 canadian after tax. -
I also use the logitech MX518 mainly for gaming and the extra buttons are just great for multi-tasking. However, I plan on purchasing a wireless mouse; I'm currently contemplating on getting the Logitech Mediaplay Mouse. I was curious tho, has anyone used this for gaming/multi-tasking? (I just want to know the performance/battery life) since i frequently use the forward/back buttons on the mx518.
-
The Media mouse I really wanted to get but I just couldn't pay $50 for it(Here its 45 + taxes..)...
But I tried it and it felt great in my hands, its pretty long vertically(err from front to back...) which felt great for my hands.
But I'm afraid to accidentally pressing one of the button while using it, will it load programs like WMP? -
-
any1 try out the microsoft blue light up mice??..like the left and right clik buttons light up and stuff...???
-
Now it is 29.99 before tax (Cdn) at futureshop! I think i'm gonna go get it! -
Oye!!!
Nice price...
I really don't need so many mouses...
I have 1 computer, and two mouses, and I was gonna buy the mx700, mx1000, gigabyte notebook mouse, and now maybe this?
Why do I need so many!! -
I bought the mx1000 a few months ago - best mouse ive ever used in my opinion, i used to have the mx700 and i was worried the mx1000 would be a similar weight but to me it feels much lighter and is more responsive!
-
for bluetooth users, has anyone tried this mouse: http://www.blueunplugged.com/Products/Anycom_Bluetooth_Blue_Mini_Mouse_BTM_100.aspx
Based on what I've heard, it's the best bluetooth mouse out there, beating even the logitech MX900. I'm a little concern about taking the jump on it though.
It's designed to be used with integrated bluetooth on laptops (doesn't even come w/ a dongle), recharage able via USB, and can be used while it's charging -
Im new here because I just about a laptop (Dell i6000) and Ive never used a touchpad so I've been looking into a wireless mouse. The MX1000 sounds like heaven, so I think im going to get it. I found it on Amazon.com for only $41 after the mail in rebate. Sounds like a good deal to me
I do graphic designed and photography, so I need a very precise mouse because sometimes I move at very slow speeds and I cant stand it when my mouse gets stuck and I have to re-trace all over again. Sounds like I wont have that problem with this one.
-
The mx1000 is indeed very nice...
But since I bought the mx700 for $30, I didn't feel like buying yet another mouse(To my colllection of 4 already)
I'm really interested in buying the Gigbyte wireless notebook mouse just for the coolness of it -
anyone tried the Acrox Laser Mouse ?
-
Bought 2 of these Logitech Cordless Optical Notebook Mice:
http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0926INGFS10047239&catid=#
I got an awesome deal on them. Staples sells for $49.95, Best Buy for $25.49. Staples has a 150% Price Match Guarantee.
49.95 - 25.49 = 24.46
24.46 * 150% = 36.69
49.95 - 36.69 = 13.26!!!!
pretty sweet deal. I don't even have a laptop yet but this mouse is so comfortable i'm using it with my desktop. -
Currently I'm considering to get either Logitech G5 or G7. I have a 17" DTR-notebook (brand new). I'm pretty sure I'm going to get G5 because it's much more laptop-friendly eventhough mobility is not that important (my laptop stays 99.9 percent of the time on my desk).
G7 is cool but the battery-swapping is a turnoff. -
However, come September 1st, they will change it to 110% pricematch.
So keep PM"ing til September -
-
Hmm it was something like this.
Best Buy had it for $40, Staples had it for $120.
So, 120 - 40 = $80 x 1.5 = 160
120 - 160 = -$40.
But since they can't 'give' us money back, it's nulled at $0.00, but with taxes(well, everything we pay for needs taxes), it goes to $0.01 -
I have Logitech's Cordless Optical Mouse (not sure about model number, here's an image) and an mx310.
The mx310 is, hands-down, the best mouse I've ever used, and you can probably get it for 20 bucks. It's light, but feels sturdy. The non-standard buttons (forward & back and the application button) are subtle enough that they dont get in the way if you aren't using them, but are great for gaming. (Actually I've never used the application button and dont really see it as being very useful.) It has a great feel and is kinda molded to fit your hand. And if Counter-Strike is any test, I've always had impeccable response from it.
As for the Cordless Optical Mouse, well, I got it on sale at CompUSA. It's good for a compact, cordless mouse. The shape doesn't suit me all that well, but a lot of people are fine with the standard mouse shape. I used it like all the time for about 3 weeks or a month before the batteries died, which I actually wasn't impressed with, but my expectations are probably too high. I checked their website and it looks like they're replacing this one with a newer model that takes after Microsoft's design re: built-in usb adapter storage.
Since you said you wanted a corded mouse, I gotta recommend the mx310. It's not specifically designed for notebook use, so it's average mouse size, which might be inconvenient for carrying around or using on crowded coffee shop tables, but it's a great mouse. -
Of course you could get this> http://shinza.com/product_info.php?products_id=25
-
I recently got my mx700, and its been working great, I got it off ebay for $16 and its been working very well, no complaints at all.
And like slicer, I also have that Logitech wireless notebook mouse, and it works great if I need to travel with it. -
I am looking for a new mouse for the laptop that I purchased as well. I purchased the coveted MX1000 when it first came out for my brother and stuck with the MX700 for my own computer usage, but I am looking for something that I won't have to carry the big charger around, and something that will not have to be always plugged in as I am actually looking to take the 8.5+ pound behemoth around. It's a good thing that I am a strong guy
. Anyways, something that charges from the usb would be perfect, hopefully Logitech will come out with something as I have been using them since before I can remember. Anyhow, the MX1000 is a great buy based on the dynamics of the mouse and the way that it conforms with your hands. The only problem that you guys will come into with it is that you need to make sure that you keep the bottom metal brackets clean and clear of any gunk, because otherwise it will have problems charging and you will need to mess with it for a few mins each time to be able to get it to charge. Anyways, my 2c of experience. Cheers to Logitech, and where's my new mouse for the laptop

Here it is... lol, I'll wait for the price to come down a little bit though. -
I guess only one other person, besides myself, likes the Microsoft Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse. Got mine today $34.99 at OfficeDepot after rebate.
I like the way the USB transmitter clips/stores into the base of the mouse.
Uses 1 battery, and is supposed to last a long time. No cords to deal with...
---------------Update 8/18------
The OD mouse went back. CompUSA has the same mouse (Blue, or Black "Slate") are both on sale this week, $24.99 after $10 rebate. -
the MX optical engine is a joke, its just 800DPI for the MX700 and MX900 mice, every other mouse is 800 too, even the cheap crappy 20 dollar mouse i had was 800. i have the MX900 and its good but all the logitech hype about their optical engine is crap. its no better than any other of my mice (MS notebook mouse, cheap mini zipling mouse, wired and RF MS mice)
-
i never had a cordless mouse ,,, i use a Logitec Notebook Mouse that i bought at Target for $20.00. The cord wraps around the base of the mouse and stores clean.
I am still thinking about buying a cordless mouse (bluetooth) but I still don't know if i can use it while in an airplane. -
I have a Bluetooth Kensington Pilot Mouse. It is well constructed and has a good feel. It is a little more expensive though.
-
Arg!!! How come no kensington Bluetooth track balls???
What do people have against total control, without having to move a mouse around??? Total control that is so smooth you forget you are using anything. My hand gets sore after just a few minutes trying to see if I could "stomach" using an archaic mouse again. My hand cramps. compared to the total comfort/zero stress of a trackball. What gives??? I dont want to mess with cords or IR dongles and my XPSg2 has Bluetooth. The same conspricy that rubed the track bakk off the laptop. -
If you want a really portable mouse that is bluetooth, the Kensington Pilot Mini is a great option. It has a nice weight to it (not heavy, but enough to feel solid), has an on/off switch to save battery life and is small enough to be portable, but not quite a mini mouse. I have had no problem pairing it with my laptop. This is not a gaming laptop but if you are looking for a portable wireless option and have bluetooth capabilities, I recommend the Kensington Pilot mini. I imagine the pilot mouse is simply a bigger version of the mini.
