Check out coolers from Vantec, Zalman and Targus. Also read the cooling guide.

I agree. I personally owned a Targus Chillhub with 4 usb ports.
I think you need to consider the RPM as well as the area coverage from
the cooler as well. It all depends on the size of your laptop as well.

Here are three decent ones from Newegg:

    VANTEC LapCool2 Notebook Cooler, with 4 USB2.0 ports Model LPC-305 -

I have the newer version of the Targus Notebook Chill Hub and when I have the laptop running on battery idle temps are 45-50C and with the cooler temps are in the 40-41C's. I haven't compared temps yet when the laptop is plugged into power but it sure is noisy.

i have a quick question about these - do you guys have any recommendations for a cooler that i could keep on my lap as well? these look like good choices - but it looks like the fans all take air from the bottom - seems like placing it on your lap would defeat the purpose...

i see in johnny t's review the notepal allows for that - and it looks like a great unit - but im not sure where i would pick one up in the u.s.

    any suggestions would be great!
