    Hello All,

My question is just what the thread title states. This forum has helped me research and decide on my notebook and now please advise on a 17" notebook cooler. I have used ZM-NC2000 which had decent results. This cooler is from years ago. Anyone that has experience can recommend new coolers? All info is much appreciated and thanx in advance!

Yes, recommended for gaming which is the reason I chose not to get it. Not that its not a good cooler.

Its also about time to start including USB 3.0. Too many manufactures are dragging their feet on this. Anyway, I ordered the 140mm with the adjustable back.

UPDATE: The Ergostand come in today. Unlike the Coolmaster w/3 fans it replaces it sabout an 1 smaller on either side of the laptop -- despite of the 17" compatibility claim. It also has 4 USB ports in back which are, of course, useless past beyond 1 (Anybody know the point of this?).

The chassis is made of plastic with a metal mesh underneath the laptop., It also has two rubber wedges which insert in a slot in front of the laptop to keep in from sliding forward.

For now they slide into slots that can be positioned either inward or further out to the side of the laptop. But again, its an inch smaller on either side so even in the outer slot, they're still about 2" from the edge of the laptop.

Fortunately, these stays are exactly the same height as my laptop. so they don't protrude and dig into my wrist if I used the laptop's keyboard, which I don't when in this position. Thin and light laptops user however, should beware.

One more thing, for now the rubber stays seem secure enough, however, one has to wonder how well they will remain solidly in place as the weight of the laptop begins to wear on them.

For now, that's at 30 degrees, but the pressure would be a lot greater if I positioned it to the maximum 45 degrees.

That's a lot of weight to support in that position; and I'm not sure I'd chance it since I get the feeling these things are made more for MBP and the like laptops, not workstations. Stay tuned.

I'm quite content with my Zalman nc2000. Definitely one of the better ones I've owned.
