    1. If you will use it on your lap, the SF-17 will be a pain as I believe you need to power it using an AC Adapter.. I don't know if you can find it easily.
    2. The Targus will be comfy but honestly won't help at all with temps.. So yes if your;e going to use it on your lap, targus is a good choice.. I would suggest looking at the Zalman NC3500 if your'e thinking of the same.
    3. If you'e going to use the cooler on the table, the one that is suggested is the Coolermaster Notepal U3 which can be modded and have more powerful fans.. I would suggest this and honestly, I doubt you'll like having this thing on your lap for more than a few minutes ;).. Weighs a ton :D

Just looking for a very comfortable Cooling pad with reasonable cooling. All reviews seem mixed for all cooling pads I don't know which one to get.

    This one look good?

Is there one that is very comfortable on lap, but cools very well too? All the ones that you mentioned are either uncomfortable or don't cool well enough

There is no perfect cooler for playing on the lap sadly.. These laptops are designed to be used on desks and not on laps for long periods..

Pick your poison: it's either going to cool decently or be comfortable on your lap (aka lightweight, not too bulky etc.). If the priority is using it on your lap, then get something for that, but don't expect it to match cooling capabilities of bulkier options.

Papsun, Robo, our dear OP wants a cooler to use on his lap while playing games and keep his laptop super cool.. That is not going to happen like Melody said :)

I've used the NC-2000 on my lap before, quite comfortable, don't have to sit with knees together balancing it which is good & doesn't block fans of cooler either! Generally I use it on a table though.

With a load of 88 -115 watt of the processor during benchmarks then work my Cooler Master U3. Perhaps the difference is not as good with a wattage of 50 -55 watts during benchmark testing. Had not bear to have my 4.5 kg laptop into my lap. :D

CM Storm SF 19, does not cool my Alienware where it should; in fact the upper part of the laptop where the grill is. My laptop does not need the fans blowing directly on the plastic under the grill where the air just cools the plastic and not the hardware.. :D

Nice mod. I looked for laptop coolers as well and opted for the Cooler Master U3 Plus. I just like the fact that I can place the fans directly under the laptop vents is a HUGE plus with the 3 plans and adjustable speed.

Nice to also see some custom mods made here by other posters....

I think it's a great cooler no doubt but I hate having my notebook on angle.. If it was more flat, I would kept it but I returned mine and took a refund... It hardly helped to reduce temps compared to the IC Diamond paste I applied on CPU+GPU :)

Just raising the rear of the laptop of the surface can help lower temps. In any event, have you considered using an external keyboard? A simple and useful solution to overheating that more laptop manufacturers should consider. Strangely, many extended battery packs do this inherently.
