The laptop coolers most often regarded as "the best" are the ones designed to stay flat on a desk. This works fine and dandy for people who keep their laptop on a desk all the time, but for someone who enjoys using their laptop in their lap those coolers become impractical and/or uncomfortable to use. Cooler performance, while still important, no longer because the only concern, but comfort in the lap as well.
On one end we have the Xpad, by far the king of comfort and portability, but unfortunately the passive cooling isn't the most highly praised. One the other end, what would we have? I suppose that would be more of a personal preference. How far can people push performance while still being able to attest that the cooler is still comfortable in your lap?

Pretty nice product. Maybe nicer than an Xpad, but I'm a bit more curious about people's experience with active coolers.

I'll swear by both the Xpad--for on the go stuff--and the Zalman NC2000 for when you're anchored to your desk.

Alright, I might be convinced soon enough. There were mainly five coolers I have been considering as possibilities. Those would be the Xpad, Xena II, NotePal Infinite, and the Massive23 ST and CS. I know the Massive models have their fan intake on the bottom, but it looked like the fans might be elevated enough that resting in someone's lap wouldn't matter, but they might be the least comfortable.
