Any suggestions on the best external usb powered speakers. I have a usb3 if it makes a difference. Thanks in advance.

This question is a bit like which mouse fart is the loudest. There's only so much you can do and they're all pretty tinny / quiet in the overall scheme of things. Do also bear in mind that if you're running on battery power, it's an additional (and bigger than the internal speakers) drain.
If I had to buy one, I'd buy the Lacie Bobourg, partly for the inoffensive looks.

But I would much rather go with powered speakers. The minimal increase in convenience with USB speakers is IMO not worth the tradeoff in performance if you're going to have an external thing anyway. -
As always with these things, they depend onyour budget... These are meant to be superb, small sized cube speakers with the option for USB powered or mains powered (40W via USB power and 50W via mains power), though you pay for the sound they produce, there are £130!

Is that a misprint? How can it deliver 40W on 5V @ 1A? (assuming it's dual-input as it says)

got these as a gift, can't really say the quality is better than my internal speakers though (just louder).

There not really what I would be interested in(and I do need to get better speakers than my cheap Logitechs), but they are certainly interesting!Would be great to just chuck in the laptop bag!
