I am still debating whether or not to get a "passive" laptop cooler, which maybe will make it cooler during games, or movie watching. Anyone know if there is a good one out there which is effective, yet doesn't use a fan?

Cant think anything passive only to do any real life cooling, unless it's something that incorporates dry ice or similar.

The ever-lovable Xpad Slim is a good one. It raises your laptop enough so that it gets better ventilation.

a book......

Two lego pieces .... and yes, I have used them LOL

Passive coolers are such a rip-off. All they do is elevate your notebook to allow for more airflow. The padded ones actually make the temps worse.
You can achieve even better results with a wallet or, if you want something more elegant, this. -
frozen cooler packs and a towel?

i'm using a logitech alto connect which are pretty cheap from fleabay. you can use anything to elevate the back legs on the laptop which will improve the temperatures for the cpu and gpu. the alto does a pretty dang good job for passive cooling.

anyhing 1 inch thick and sturdy. can be multiple objects as well (i.e., bottle caps)

I thought I was the only one who did this.... I use two small blocks of wood to raise the back up about an inch.

I have this on my Gateway P-7811FX.
Laptop Lifts - protect your computer from heat, spills, scratches and other mishaps!
This is one of the best passive notebook lift I have used. You dont have to worry about setting it up or taking it out of your bag. just stick it to the bottom of your laptop and that's it. It made a bit of a difference in my gaming on my P-7811FX.
If you are interested in the laptop lift, look for it on ebay.. he also sells it on ebay which I found to be a a little bit cheaper. TigerDirect also sells it... but a lot more expensive
Best choice in a "passive" laptop cooler??
