Hello all. I've got a 100 dollar gift card burning a hole in my wallet and I need a new headset. The ones I use now squeeze my head so tight I want to take them off after 10 minutes. I've been looking at the ones below but open to other recommendations.

    Razer Kracken 7.1 Chroma. $99
    Logitech G36 7.1 $86
    HyperX Cloud ii 7.1 $99

or splurge a bit and forget 7.1 and go for a set of Sennheiser PC 350 SE for $127.

Right now I'm leaning a bit toward the Sennheiser's just because I have lots of experience using their headphones in music studios with excellent results. But I know gaming does not = music studio... So I come to you guys for help on what would be the best "gaming" headset for my budget.

Can't do better than this for less than $100:

    Sennheiser HD 518 - $60 (after code EMCARNK67)
    Zalman ZM-MIC1 - $10
    $70 total

Use the $30 you saved to get like 10 PC games during your first Steam sale (it's addictive--you've been warned! :D)

DO NOT BUY GAMING HEADSETS FROM GAMING PERIPHERALS VENDORS

    #2's suggestion is pretty solid.

Is there any way you can bend your existing headset so it becomes more comfortable?

I do like the HD 518 but it doesn't have a mic. I need a mic not just for a gaming but for a few online courses I'm taking this summer. So it doesn't HAVE to be a gaming headset but it does have to have a mic.

The ones I am using now are Planatronics that I picked up at staples for around 30 bucks. The plastic looks so cheap I think they would break if I stretched them out and the mic barely works with the gain on high.

I already suggested the Zalman which is a cheap little clip-on in-line mic with decent sound quality.

If the inclusion of a built-in mic is really that important to you, just know that you're overpaying for the feature compared to the headphones on which they're based. For example:

    PC 363D/G4ME ONE = HD 5x8
    G4ME ZERO/PC 350 SE = HD 380 Pro

LOL Plantronics...yeah toss those in the trash.

    ^^ This.

Buy your audio gear from companies that specialize in making audio gear. Do not buy audio gear from companies that specialize in making computer peripherals (Logitech, Razer, Steelseries, etc).
