what are the best gaming mice from the different companies. Logitech's are easy, but Razers' don't seem a hierarchy to them. They all seem to have different specs and sizes. What else is there other than Logitech, Razer and Microsoft?
As for logitech:
G5 2007 model
G7 wireless
MX518
G9 doesn't count because it's not out yet
-
In terms of raw performance, the MX518 (or a MX500 OC'd) beats everything...
Anyways, Razer has put out a lot of high quality mice and gives a lot of variety. Any of Razer's mice will work fine and it largely will come down if you palm your mouse or use your fingertips to control movement.
Microsoft's IntelliMouse line of mice has been a staple for many FPS players for years, but this is mainly due to familiarity with the design than true "performance." The Habu (made with help from Razer) is a nice mouse as well.
Also, don't buy a laser mouse unless you're a high sensitivity player due to how low their malfunction speeds are.
This article should answer a lot of questions, but doesn't include some of the newer mice... -
its all about personal preference.
From razer the copperhead is my favourite however i think the death adder is their most expensive. i have the diamondback, and i quite like that. microsoft don't make their own gaming mice, they use razer. i think saitek also make some good gaming ones. -
I used the mouse that came with my computer until the laser flickered out and now i'm using a MX610 (Logitech,
).
I don't see the point of incredibly high sensor resolutions. Sure you can move your mouse 2 inches and the pointer will jump 10 feet across the screen, but is that level of sensitivity really needed? Everything about "gaming" mice screams elitism:
" 'Pro' gamers only use this, buy it!" - Worship of Mountain Dew drinking kids with Intel shirts is dumb.
"Wired, so you'll never get cut-outs or interference!" - The cord can snag, wireless is pretty good these days, and if you're worried about the 1/500 second delay, you're a OCD sufferer, not a gamer.
"2400dpi, for an eXtReMe gaming experience!" - Even those MD drinking Intel shirt wearing puppets use generic optical mice.
Sorry about the rant, but the whole idea of "gaming" mice is ridiculous. -

I like the G7 for wireless and the MX518 for wired.
Both serve me well. -
MX310 for me, by far the most comfortable and responsive mouse I've ever used.
I'm so disappointed Logitech never released a "G" version of it
MX5xx series, were kinda bulky and too high. -
Thanks all. I was mainly wondering about the best Razer. And just as I though they don't really have one that's better than the other.
Does anyone know why the DeathAdder is the most expensive? -
Short answer is that it is new and uses a unique sensor.
-
i disagree with this one as well. first of all, gaming mice look better(opinion here, but i'm sure i can get plenty of back up) and then they generall have extra buttons more than your standard mouse. plus you can set the dpi, which although 2400 might be useless, 800/1200/2000 has many advantages. also some have customisable weights, which although not a massive things, can make a difference when using the mouse for extended periods of time. -

gaming mouse=high grade mouse basically though there are some high quality ones for business purposes. gaming mouses do make a big difference for serious gamers though. My personal preferences are g5 and mx518. G9 tooks terrible also, what were the logi boys thinking.
-
I really like my G5 Mouse, one you adjust the weights how you like them, the mouse is much more responcive. I ahve used the 518 and I prefer the G5.
-
The Death Adder mouse is easily one of the best performing mice available, however it usually is a bit expensive (but I got it for $37 from work with my discount..).
Wireless mice such as the G7 aren't great for gaming.
Laser mice such as the G5 are vastly over-rated.
The MX518 is one of the best mice available for gaming and general use. I use a MX510 still, but I love the MX518 and recommend it to all.
That's my highly opinionated, abridged review of gaming mice -
What's wrong with wireless mice?
- I never get drop-outs/ interference
- The mouse responds without any problems
- There's rechargable batteries with the G7
The wire can snag with a corded mouse -
I have an XG Lazer Mouse, up to 2500 DPI and I love it. I got it for $10 and can't find anywhere to buy another...but the weight is good and I love it. =]

mx518 if you're a 'palm' mouser
Razer [Copperhead for me] if you're a 'fingertip' mouser
I love my copperhead, but I do with it was more sensitive. Even at 2000dpi, I find myself ramping up the sensitivity more in games to make it comfortable for me. My G1S comes tomorrow, so maybe I'll try out the included mx518 some more, see if I don't enjoy it more than my last one. -
-
the G9 is THE gaming mouse of the future......if you're blind! That thing redefines the word ugly. In the dictionaries of the future, the G9 will be the prime meaning of the word!
the deathadder is truly a gamers mouse, high quality and well designed to help you get the most out of your skills/potential. -
snagging has never been a problem for me. you would have to be a gump and wrap the cord around something for it to be an issue.
-
LOL gaming mice are ridiculous? yes cuz your generic optical mouse is so great with its 2 buttons and optional scroll wheel. seriously a gaming mouse is supposed to provide the gamer with a lot easy access buttons, high dpi so the geek's hand doesnt have to travel right across his room for a full spin and lasts the distance when you spend hours on end every week abusing it.
-
I personally have a G5 and I love it.
-
What makes a "gaming"mouse?
-
Try reading the previous posts in this thread. That question's been discussed and answered several times over.
-
no matter how fancy mice get, I will always have a special place deep inside for my intellimouse explorer 3.0. I havent found a mouse that has topped this one in terms of erogonomics.
-
MX518 is the way to go. All those buttons for all those useful weapons. Secondary weapons, voice chat, macros, and the like.
-
I've had both the Razer Dimond back and now have a G7...Loved both...but like the G7 better as its much more sensitive...As for logitech, they now have a new model called the G9 with a sensitivity of a ridiculous 3200DPI, a weighted system and interchangable grips

I like my G5 Laser mouse. Its incredibly responsive, has on-the-fly adjustable DPI settings, and has adjustable weights, and while the adjustable weights are a bit gimmicky, it really can make the mouse more comfortable to use once you get them properly adjusted.

masterchef341 The guy from The Notebook
i think the G5 is sort of the standard of quality for gaming mice.

Razer Copperhead

-
This is my "gaming mouse."
-
i like my logitecs honestly. but definetely wireless, i will never go back.
-

Wired mice will perform better for gaming, end of story. Seems like most people end up deciding between Logitech and Razer mice, with personal preference being the ultimate factor. See if you can find a store in your area where you can try some of them out.
Also, am I the only person who thinks it's funny that after all of the endless complaining about the shape of Creative's Fatal1ty mouse, the Logitech G9 looks basically the same? -
I just ordered a razer diamondback and to me it is not very comfortable with the buttons and all. I am going to vote for the logitechmx518, great component and a very comfortable mouse. Also its only about 35 dollars which is a great deal
-
yeah it does look like the fatal1ty 1010, i got one right here and it looks similar but the G9 is just uglier, like two mice stuck together
-
What is the best gaming corded mouse that is small?
-
I like the Fatal1ty 2020...
-
Whats a good wireless mouse thats going to be used on a laptop for a moderate gamer, mostly WoW and a few FPS's, not too hardcore and not too expensive. Also, in terms of cost which tends to be more, Logitech or Razer?
-
Razers run between about $40 and $60 while Logitech has a broader price range. However, a Razer doesn't seem to be the type of mouse you're looking for considering that Razer only manufactures high performance gaming mice which are all, to my knowledge, wired.
-
So any recommendations for a good gaming wireless mouse, doesn't have to be Logitech.
-
I have no experience with wireless gaming mice, but from what I've heard people saying, the Logitech wireless G7 would be your safest bet. It's pricey, though, at $70.

Its not really dealing with sensitivity in the way you are interpreting. Its simply a count of how much the mouse moves per a certain distance you move the mouse (DPI). Its rather a meassure of how fast the pointer moves across the screen rather than how sensitive it is to your movements. Dave like it was said for serious gamers the gaming mouse and DPI adjustments make a huge difference and my point is just because the high DPI is overkill for you doesn't mean its overkill for someone else but rather a necessity.
G5 is rated as one of the top mouse and the weight adjustment is just a bonus. Its a great mouse and its on the top slot with the copperhead, the weights are not the main attraction. -
If there's one thing I can't stand, it's a mouse's cord snagging on something. My setup looks rather minimal, but there's cables everywhere.
As for sensitivity, I have the refresh rate as 100/second, the screen is 75Hz, and my mouse is on a mousepad. I could bump the Windows setting to max, and use the thing right on my matte-finish table, but I don't. -
judging from personal experience, i'd go with the intellimouse 3.0, it rocks everything :],
razer...eh, i bought 3 copperheads, my frnds both bought 1 diamondback, few months later, they all started acting up, therefore, we hate razer go with microsoft's intellimouse! u wont regret it!, i bought 3 =] -
i love my razer, and i love my mx518.
-
Personally, I like on the fly sensitivity if I'm going into a tank and the turret is considerably harder to move than the character. -
no love for the microsoft habu?
ive been using one for a couple months now and i absolutely love it
then again isnt it made by razer?
best gaming mouse
