I am looking for a gaming mouse that has very good performance (doesn't have to be the absolute fastest in the world, but no lag), but is also comfortable to use for a couple of hours and not give you hand pain. What is the best for me, Logitec (G?), Razer, Steel Series, etc? Also what is a good gaming mouse pad - don't laugh - that might have some sort of wrist support.
-
well comfort is all dependant on the users hand shape. i like the ms sidewinder, but i suggest you go check out a couple.
-
I also use a SideWinder - it took a getting used to, but now I can use it comfortably. I don't use the bottom button on the side, and I'm planning on getting the G9 too - I'll sell the one I don't like
.

I suggest either the Logitech G5 or G9. For general usage you may find the G5 to be more comfortable, but for gaming I don't think the G9 can be beat. I have the G9, and I couldn't be any happier with it. It's very well built, very configurable, and will likely increase your stats in FPS games.
-
I have heard that the G9 is uncomfortable for people who like to grip the mouse with their whole hand, is this true?
Also, Razer mice are very fast, but how comfortable are they. They look a little stiff, but I have never actually used one. -
I am a lefty that can only use right hand mice, go figure. I have personally tested the Razrs Copperhead, Sidewwinder, mx518, and g5; for me the 518 fit perfect, thus I have two. Since I have big hands, my hands would not rest correctly on the other mice, causing rubbing to occur. The 518 has enough onbaord buttons and a high enough sens to be good. I love both my 518, plus they were top of the pile for a bit and now are nice and cheap. The day they stop selling em will be the day I go buy the most I can, to last me a lifetime.

I loved my razer diamondback...while it worked. It worked absolutely perfect for 3 months then the usb connector of all things crapped out on it. I now use a sidewinder that I scored for 30$ about 2 months ago. Floor models ftw

I have a Logitech G5 and I play for hours on end. I Really like it. I don't have any suggestions for mouse pads.
I have a razor copperhead too, but I don't like it as much as I do the g5. -
Is 2000dpi enough to not experience lag in an intense FPS battle?
-
-
"whole hand" means gripping the mouse so that you fingers lay flat, and your entire hand covers the mouse.
-
-
-
any "good" "gaming" mouse will be better. but comparing a g9 to a sidewinder or a diamondback is like cutting straws. there is no difference between them performance wise. a person will play best with what they find most comfortable regardless of "aggressive erginomics and a fast engine"
-
take a picture of your hand with multi-angle shots.. or conversely you can stop by BestBuy and see which one fits best. 9 out of 10 it's the hand that's not accurate so i doubt higher dpi will improve your 'fragging skills.'
-
go go with the pic of hand option.
yes people who blame their tools................................. -
man this is like the most recurring topic..
Should we create a Gaming mouse sticky? -
logitech mx518

My last 3 Mouses:
MX510
G5
G5 w/ 2 Buttons
The Logitech MX510 was great, but the feet kept falling off and eventually I lost a couple of them. The MX518 has the same feet so I would assume the same problem.
G5 is great but the rope wire type thing sucks and eventually I had the wire actually split through. Also the first generation of G5 only has 1 thumb button, but now they come in versions with 2 thumb buttons.
DPI isnt important as I still use 800 dpi -
I bought a Logitech MX 518 Gaming mouse because my MX wireless mouse couldn't keep up. It also has a higher DPI which is nice for games.

Just thinking I should promote myself
. Okay no, seriously - I just wanted to show you the two main different "grips" that people use while gaming. The thread has a picture of both. MS SideWinder is perfect if you are "Palm Grip".
-
Ok, when I say "whole hand I mean the "palm grip" - http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=224545 (second picture).
What powerful (good customization/engine) mouse is most comfortable to use with the palm grip, for long periods of time? I would gladly sacrifice a little bit of performance for comfort. -
classifying performance in a mouse is rather useless. the main difference between the "gaming mice" is shape and location of buttons. i like the sidewinder as it is most comfortable for me. go find yourself the mouse that is most comfortable for you by trying them out. it is the only way.
EDIT: and yes nocturnal, a sticky would be nice. woulod need to make a decent informative thread with pics and info though. -

I "palm grip" my G9 and it works great for me. No problems with fatigue at all.
-
Any mice similar to the razer lachesis? Fits my hand very well ( BIG HANDS) but it feels cheap
-
& it can be made a STICKY. -
I just got a G9, and it's true that it doesn't accommodate the entire palm. However, I don't find this to be much of a problem. I guess it's a matter of personal preference.

I just went through the decision-making process of finding a good gaming mouse...I think that the #1 factor is going to be individual comfort and hand size...I loved the looks, options and price of the Sidewinder (it was on sale), but it was waaay too long for my smaller hands..I mean that button on the left towards the front was unreachable unless I took my whole hand off and slid it forward...I would suggest going to as many stores as possible that have multiple gaming mice on display and handling them for comfort...I find the G5 and G9 were VERY comfortable for me..Since I found the G9 for a reasonable price online..I went with it and have been very satisifed!

I have the Razer Copperhead inbound for monday.
