I use my computer for many different things that all raise the temperature and would like to finally invest in a notebook cooler. Which one do you recommend for $30 or less? I don't care if it's passive or not etc, just something that works! Thanks.

I recommend the belkin laptop cooling stand, you can get it for 29 USD. It has a single fan in the middle which cools my laptop around 5-6 degrees celcious and is relatively quiet. I love it because you can also use it as a laptop desk thing on your lap. Its not suitable for huge desktop replacements, but your 1530 should be fine

Yup, the Belkin is a good choice. If you can find it. I couldn't find it in my neck of the woods and was always "unavailable" via online. So I stumbled upon this similar cooler which is proving to be quite good...

I recommend looking at the notebook cooler buyers guide (link in sig) and reading about aligning the vents/fans of your notebook with the fans/vents of the cooler in order to get the best results.

You can get it for $20 from many places. I got mine from walmart (twice) before I returned it, each time for $20.

I got an email from Frys Electronics that they were selling the belkin cooler + a messenger bag for $20 after rebate for labor day sale.

I agree this cooler is very good for the price you pay for it.

But no way is it relatively quiet. It is a loud mofo.

get some postits too, to please stirfriedsushi.
Get the Staples brand stickies, cause they are cheaper ;)
I personally find that passive cooling works very good, plus you all know for active cooling I go ebm papst, and their is nothing, they cant cool :D

Nice purchase, please post pics/review when you get your Belkin.

I tried. When I clicked on the link in the email it gave me an error. I know for sure the rebate deal should still be available seeing as its until 9/2 so you might want to either try searching the Frys website or go to your local Frys and check it out.

Try the Notebookbuddy. I got mine at thenotebookbuddy.com for $18.95. It is very very light, flexible, made of this magic material that lets air flow through it yet keeps the heat away from the legs.Great!
