Best portable battery for your laptop and other devices?

I look at the CES 2014 battery showcases and I don't know how to judge if the battery is enough to be used for a laptop or just a tablet or phone.

    My concerns are
    1. Good enough for a laptop?
    2. Can plug into into a laptop?
    3. Can plug into other devices?
    4. What words/terminology should I know to better understand how to get a good portable battery?
    5. Something that can fit and be light enough in a backpack. If it can fit in a smaller bag that's great too.

    Are you Thundr? Srsly.

Match rated output power of battery with rated output power of your laptop power supply.
    Match rated output voltage precisely.
    Don't buy from unknown names.
Cheaper batteries tend to have fewer useful cycles or are more failure-prone because inferior cells.

So aside from swappable batteries made specifically for hte laptop, is there no good solution?

    Short answer: No.

If you want better battery life, then you're better off just buying a laptop with better battery life. Or, buy spare batteries that were specifically designed for that particular model of laptop.

Trying to find universal external batteries is a waste of time and money.

    Dat totally unsolicited review :p

I have something similar but what I said above applies. Your system must not demand more power than the battery can provide, and the output voltage of the battery must match the output voltage of the lapto's AC charger. And cheaper external batteries can be rated for as little as 200 cycles, if they list one at all. 'More or less legit' ones like Anker claim 500+ cycles.
