What do you recommend? I need them by Friday 6/20, so I'd either have to buy them online with quick shipping (which means that the speakers themselves would have to be below $30 or so), or find them in a store. I was in Circuit City today and the only ones they had were $70.

I'm going to hook them up to my laptop while driving across country in a Budget truck, so they need SOME juice, although sound quality doesn't have to be great because it just won't matter much in the truck.

Any brand names to avoid? To look for?

yea, the x-140 is pretty good for its cheapness. If you want a sub, go w/ the x-240

I'd recommend something with a subwoofer, it's incredible when you first blast your songs through one of those. Not sure if there is any for less than 40 bucks though. Look into logitech or creative speakers.

i have these speakers and they sound really good. getting this for only $30 was a steal for me.

Link to get the Logitech Audio hub for only $30.20. I know it says 40 but you just need to use google check out and take $10 off.

The Logitech Audiohub looks like it would be significantly better than the x-140, especially with the integrated subwoofer. But now I'm wondering...the inverter I bought (for my car...I want to use them travelling across country) only has one AC plug; given that it is 100 watts, would it be able to handle a two-plug adapter with both my laptop and the Audiohub plugged in?
