I am looking to buy a new mouse with my new laptop later this year. Since the most workout it will get is from 3D animation and games, I am looking for some advice. On another forum, they recommended Logitech, but did not prefer corded over cordless.

I am looking at this http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/products/details/US/EN,CRID=2135,CONTENTID=10916
Seems to be popular. Anyone have input on this mouse? Pros, Cons etc... -
A lot of people recommend this as a bluetooth mouse, unfortunately it doesn't have the side buttons (Back/Forward) that I've gotten so used to. If only Logitech would sell the MX1000 bluetooth mouse as a standalone device, so far the only way to get it would be to buy the keyboard/mouse bluetooth combo.
Anyone tried a bluetooth mouse for gaming? I've heard response time could be a bit slower, never tried one myself though so I can't judge.. -
I would be reluctant to buy a wireless mouse because of the potential drop outs and slowdowns. Does anyone have information they can share on this?
-
I have NO dropouts on my mx1000?
And it gets heavy use -
Wireless is solid for use anymore, doubly so with bluetooth. The only reasons you should consider not going with wireless is because of battery concerns, charging up the mouse and whatnot, or price concerns.
-
I would think that besides having to charge the batteries or buy news ones, that the extra weight would be more than a corded mouse.
What would one recommend with a cord? -
I've got this notebook mouse from Logitech, the VX Revolution.
I has the side buttons and a surprisingly awesome scroll wheel. It's wireless and the little USB dongle stores inside the mouse (and also turns it off when you store it inside). That way it won't turn on by accident when in your bag.
It uses 1 AA (might be AAA) battery and they say it lasts a long time. Mine is still showing full after a month of use. I've noticed the mouse goes into a power saving mode (but not turned off) each time it sits idle for about 10 minutes.
The only thing is that it's pricey...but it does a lot. So I guess I got what I paid for! -
If one were to go wireless, would it be better to have an RF mouse via USB dongle or Bluetooth mouse connecting with an internal laptop BT card?
-
I personally like the V270 by Logitech because it's small and is bluetooth so there are no cords or plug-ins.
-
I will look into that one since my next laptop should have Bluetooth in it.

the vx revolution mouse looks ugly
the mx1000 bt with the keyboard is okay (i own it)
the refresh rate is only 80-90hz aka the respose time is 11-12ms so for fps it might not be that good
i have experienced no drop out or connection loss while using the BT but setting it up takes a while.
the battery is rechargeable and has an amazing life each charge and feels very comfy. the 7 buttons are useful but the middle button is a little hard to press (if you use firefox this could annoy you). every time i try to close a tab on firefox, i click the mid button but its so hard that i usually end up pushing the side scroll button = annoying as it swiches tabs. it'll still close the right tab but it's annoying.
Best traveling mouse
