I'd like to lie down on my back and handwrite. Pencil and paper. And read. Imagine if you were paralyzed from the chest down and lying on your back- this picture illustrates the ergonomics and positioning of what I'm trying to convey though is not my situation. With cameras and/or mirrors it should be possible to accomplish writing while lying down

The writing surface would have to be either on your lap/crotch area or the right of it . I say "lap" but you're lying down so I suppose crotch is more correct.

So there has to be a pretty good webcam camera giving an overhead view of where you are writing and also there must be something providing pretty good lighting that won't result in annoying shadows

The webcam would need to be angle/height adjustable most likely because you wouldn't lie down in the exact same spot everytime.

Connected to the webcam somehow would have to be a headset or monitor in front of you that lets you see exactly what

OR somehow perhaps there is a clever mirror setup that will accomplish this all for a fraction of the cost. If there was some easy way to position a mirror above your bed without risk of it falling on yourself and shattering glass everywhere. And a way to get the light to the paper and books on your lap/by the sides of your crotch area.

Where would you get started to make this happen if you were forced to try to make this happen? Is there a mirror that can be moved around in space height/angles or a webcam that easily connects to a head mounted display?

Why do I want to do this? This the latest little hobby/pet project interesting me. Been experimenting with surfing the web while lying on my side, watching tv while lying on my back using mirrors and it's great. You can't really hurt your tire out your back or neck while you're lying down. Standing and lying down are great positions. Yes, I have a small standing desk already I know it's better than sitting and it's also great.

You're trying to create a very complicated solution for a problem that should not exist.

If you hurt / tire out your back while sitting, then you need to work on the ergonomics of your desk setup. Do some research about computer ergonomics, and invest in desks / chairs that are adjustable for your body. All of your major joints should be at 90 degrees to each other.

If you create an ergonomic setup and you STILL have a sore back, then you need to do more exercises that strengthen the core of your body. Your body gets sore and tired because your core muscles are weak.

So rather than create some over-complicated and over-engineered band-aid solution to the problem of posture fatigue, I'd recommend you address the reasons of why you get posture fatigue in the first place.
