I produce music and run multi track audio, and currently use my Dell Inspiron 9300 as my primary with an external Dell CRT monitor as a secondary to the right.
What I want to do is get a nice external and use it as the primary front and center, while the laptop sits to the right.
I don't need it to have speakers, usb in, or whatever other excess garbage they could throw on the raise the price.
Just a great widescreen, flatscreen, LCD picture hopefully no smaller than 19". I'm staying in the bottom price range - monitors are ridiculously expensive. So as cheap as possible is what I'm looking for. I'm open to Ebay. And I live in Alaska, so there is nothing on craigslist, and we really only have Best Buy and CompUSA.

I would really recommend Samsung.
I got this one my self. And it's really nice.
But I would recommend you to go for one of the newer with better contrast ratio and maybe 22". -
LG makes great screens too. There is a 22inch widescreen with a 3000:1 ratio at great price right now.

Cool, now to find the cheapest retailer...
Anyone else?
Best, cheapest external flat screen monitor?
