    Hi all,

I'm looking to buy a decent set of speakers for my laptop, for under $50. So far it seems to have come down to the Creative Inspire T3100

    http://us.creative.com/products/product.asp?category=4&subcategory=789&product=15773

    and the Logitech X-240

    http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/speakers_audio/home_pc_speakers/devices/232&cl=GB,EN

There is also the logitech audio hub for $20 (compusa or tiger direct)

    http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/speakers_audio/home_pc_speakers/devices/3503&cl=us,en

Any input on which one would be the better buy?

i haven't heard the x-240 in person yet, but i have owned a few creative products. my buddy has the t3100's and IMO they are just ok. the highs and mids are mediocre and the system lacks lots of bass. if u prefer somethin with more bass, i would recommend any logitech system that utilizes their 8" driver subwoofer. those things have some nice thump for such a small package.

if u don't mind tryin out a refurbished product then check out ebay. i always buy everythin brand new, but i just got curious one day. i ended up gettin some refurb'd logitech z-4's from a powerseller for like $30 usd. been blastin them for a good 5 months and everythin seems fine so far.

The X-240 is excellent for the price. If you can stretch your budget a bit get a Klispch ProMedia 2.1 on Ebay. You can find it for $70 used fairly often.

I didn't like the X-240 from what I've heard at circuit city. My friend got the x-230 for $35 and it sounds amazing. If you can find the x-230, go for it

The X-230 is a slightly older but excellent sound system for the price.

Several reviews I've read say that the X-230s have better quality than the X-240s.

I would pick the Logitech one. My sister got the exact same one and they sound pretty good.

    ive never hear any of them, but;

the creative seems to be the best sounding of the lot. i has a tweeter and a woofer, compared to logitech's one way design.

although logitech usually comes up with high quality product.

the third soundbar thing doesnt seems to provide good sound. certainly not compared with option 1 and 2.

I have had 2 different Logitech audio systems and loved them. In fact I am still using my 2.1 speakers right now. I think they are z-230s or something like that. I have to keep the bass turned all the way down so my neighbors don't get ticked off.

I have the Z4s. I used to own the Logitech Z-2200 and while the Z4s can't match those, they do pump out the notes. If you can stretch a bit to get them I promise you they are worth it...the Z4s that is.

I am seeing them for around $60, Amazon has them for $62... IMO, they would be worth the extra cash...

    Ah. Hm.

If you don't mind buying used, I see a couple of places on Amazon that have the Z-2300s for 54 dollars...lol

    http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Z-23...3IJCHMGVXATT2&s=generic&qid=1223827859&sr=1-3

The Z-2300s will rock your neighborhood... literally.

    How about refurbished:
    http://www.bestrefurbs.com/goods_detail.php?gid=15&cid=53

A little more expensive, $65 dollars.. I don't know your financial situation, but **** man, the jump from the x-240 or whatever to these would be night and day for a few fortnights.. lol

I got my Z-2200s refurbished and they stayed with me 4 years at around max volume most of the time.... until I sold them. :(
