This backpack is going to be used to carry laptop and two 1.5" books around college. Both of these laptops look cool and are well padded for a notebook.
    First option is:
The Slappa Velocity Matrix Pro(15inch Edition)
    http://www.slappa.com/velocity-matrix-laptop-backpack

    Pros:
    -Looks Really Cook
    -Padded compartments
    -All around waterproof

    Cons:
-Dimensions says 3" in depth? In the pictures it looks bigger than 3". Will I be able to fit books and lappy?

    Second Option is:
    The North Face Surge 2008(black)
    http://www.ebags.com/the_north_face/surge_2008_model/product_detail/index.cfm?modelid=109317
    [IMG]

    Pros:
    -Looks alright-
    -Nice Padding
-Not as tall and wide as Slappa

    Cons:
    -No Waterproof

Which backpack should I get and why? Still not sure if the Slappa can fit my laptop and books.

I'm not sure If they just sale backpacks, I think you've got to buy a computer there, it shows up when your customize your laptop. but I could be wrong.

yeah steven, I am doubting the 3"(d) in the 15". If that is the depth, then I can barely fit my laptop in there.

gophn, that backpack looks well built and padded but isn't really my style.

I had my laptop in there, a math book, a binder, and a note book (the paper kind) :) And everything fit alright, also, The backpack is very easy to cary, doesnt strain your shoulder. I usually just carry it on one should, and compared to my last Backpack (ogio) this was like heaven.
