Anyone know of any good actual bike messenger bags that would work with this laptop?
I want to get a good bag before the school year and I will be riding with it frequently.

Check Chrome, very popular and highly durable . The design is such that stuff really stays dry. for a more common back check Timbuktu. See sticky at top of Accessories or my Sig to get links.
Timbuktu is available at REI. Chrome typically at cycle shops -
I just saw those last night, they do look really really nice, I liked them alot. How roomy are they though? The pics on the site really don't show you good inside the bag pics.
As far as I can tell these aren't really laptop bags either so I'd have to get a sleeve correct?
Thanks -
Which ones. The Chrome messengers are very roomy. The Chrome specific laptop bags are are pretty roomy too. I do know Chrome is working on new pictures. They can also send you pics , just email them.
It really depends on what you want to put in them, though. -
How about something like this?

I need more room than that HP bag has to offer, I need to be able to carry books and such also.
I was looking more at the Citizen messenger bag from chrome. I want to be able to put laptop and books. -
i used to be a bike messenger so i know a thing or two about messenger bags. the absolute best messenger bags in my opinion are pac design bags ( http://www.pacdesigns.com) but they are expensive. their top of the line model sells for around $300. They fit better and are more comfortable than any bag i've tried. i have tried chromes, timbuk2, reload, and baileyworks.
you can get pacdesign bags specially made to accept the tom bihn brain cell. if i were you i would get the cheaper "street scene" model messenger bag with the special modification for the tom bihn insert and then get the brain cell. the "street scene" bag is significantly cheaper than their "pro" model but is still very durable and rugged. this was my work bag for three years and it has held up very well. -
oh, i forgot to mention. the large street scene+tom bihn brain cell is how i transport my 14" t42p on bike. the brain cell has a rigid plastic frame which seems to protect my laptop from books, tools, whatever else i have in my bag.

stkim,
Nice comments. I'll make sure to add to list of bags on the sticky. If you happen still have yours , maybe you can do a quick review and post.
Thanks -
I think I'd like to keep it a little bit cheaper than that though. How are the Chromes? I really like the look of those. Do you know a cheaper ($20-30) Laptop sleeve that is good quality?
I'm thinking about the Chrome Citizen with a sleeve. Any thoughts? -
i bought my pac bag long before they offered the tom bihn laptop interface so unfortunately i can't comment on that. the tom bihn is a fantastic bag/sleeve though.
the chromes are nice and will serve you well i'm sure. as far as budget messenger bags go, i've always been partial to the timbuk2 bags. they are classic, old school, no frill type of bags and they are comfortable to wear. lots of messengers use them still. i think you can also get a laptop sleeve from timbuk2. but the chrome citizen with chrome sleeve sounds like a nice bikeable setup.
why not check out www.reloadbags.com? they make great, handmade messenger bags. the civilian model is only $85 and sleeves start at $35. -
Is there any kind of attachement for the chrome bags to have it carry a water bottle on the side or something? I don't know if I'd really want to put one inside the bag with everything else...
-
I don't believe there is a water bottle attachment, Though you can email them (they do respond) to see.
Probably this week will be in Philly may try and stop by the reloadbags store there , check them out. -
Wow that would be great if you could do that.
EDIT - I just emailed them so I'll be waiting for a response, I'll let you know what they say. -
I got a response from Chrome today. He said that they don't have a water bottle attachement for it but somebody might make one. But they don't know who...
Any ideas on what I would search for or who would make one?
I really like the look of Chrome's bags so If I can I want to stick with them. -
wez312,
Tough one. I would say just do a google search. You may want to Check REI or eastern mountains sports (EMS) . they may have a waterbottle attachment of some sort. -
Does anyone here have a Timbuk2 Laptop Messenger Bag? If so I was wondering, (I know this may be sort of a weird request), but I was wondering if you could take pictures of it on you? I'm curious how it fits and how big it is and such.
Thanks -
I don't have one but was in REI (who carries them) and they are not huge. Actually may be a good fit for you if you want a smaller bag (Timbuk2 has larger messenger, but laptop bag is smaller)
