I'm thinking about buying the cryo lx laptop cooler, but I'm not sure whether to get it in black or silver. The thing is, I prefer the black color over the silver one (as it goes with my black Studio XPS 16), but I was wondering if the black color means that it will absorb more heat? Wouldn't that make the laptop cooler heat up quicker, and in turn, heat up my laptop a bit more? Thus, my question is, will a black (aluminum) laptop cooler affect its cooling abilities at all?

Get the black

A cooler that is painted black would be affected by radiated forms of energy, like the sun, not conductive or convective methods which is the case with a laptop sitting on a laptop cooler. In other words, color has no bearing on temperature changes other than in radiative applications.
With that said, go with the black Cryo LX. I think it's the sexier of the two. =) -
i got the silver and black one cuz the brushed aluminum finish matches my tuxedo black m1530 beautifully. i also prefer the silver cuz u can see the nice, brushed finish of the aluminum. last, but not least, it's gonna match my silver M17x

Well the Studio XPS 16 is both black and silver-ish in color so either way, you match it's color lol
One thing I find really weird(since I'm 99% sure it's untrue) is that Canadian resellers list that the black version has 1 less USB port than the silver version O_O -
Soviet Sunrise Notebook Prophet
I say get some Krylon spray paint and spray your CryoLX copper.
