    so only one format type is going to be released???...and if only one type does get released...i hope it's the blu-ray discs since there is more data that's allowed to be stored on it :D

    Although it will have more space, the cost to space ratio needs to be at a good rate.

    And no, there were speculation that perhaps both teams will merge and create a universal disc but it seems that has broken up and the two teams will go their seperate ways as in the begining it seems.

    It's a shame really - if they worked together, there would probrably be great things - universal disc with up to, lets say 20gb of storage. They would not need to compete and would easily dominate the market in that area.

    But it's not gonna happen, so this will be interesting to see which one will rule as the dominating future disc storage.

    Having multiple standards definetly will slow the adoption of the newer technologies.
