    Hey guys,

This question is both hardware and software. Anyway, I am little bit confused w/ bluetooth profiles. Is it integrated to the hardware to the bluetooth or more like software (like I got a new software, boom, I got recent profiles)? Why I am asking this because I bought Cirago micro bluetooth v2.0 + EDR. I was going to get internal bluetooth (TrueMoibile 300) but I took a look at the procedures, and its way too hard. But than I am thinking taking my laptop to GeekSquad to let them install the hardware for me. That would be waste of money, since I already bought the USB bluetooth. I just want to feel confidence in my purchase w/ my USB bluetooth.

    TIA.

    JC

The function of USB bluetooth is the same as an internal bluetooth if they are the same standard/specification << this is hardware side.

For profiles, they are mostly on the software side, and surely depending on hardware of each device, not the bluetooth receiver.

For example, Treo 680 has many profiles originally such as object push and audio gateway. But it can have more than that such as A2DP by using Softick Gateway (if I'm not wrong) and Dial-up Networking by enabling in Bluetooth program or 3rd party programs like USB modem. But it can't have Headset profile due to the limited of hardware (Who would use Treo as only a bluetooth headset anyway?)

You may get an idea, I hope.

    Ah ok, I see.

So for an example: I want to buy A2DP headphone but my bluetooth receiver originally doesn't came A2DP profile software. So I get a generic software w/ the updates of the current profiles, including A2DP. Install it and I am able to use the headphone, right?

    Thank you.
