It seems that many people think that Microsoft's or Logitech's current Bluetooth offering is quite mediocre.

Either the Bluetooth mice they are offering are too big or lack functionality. For example the V270 is a nice mouse but could use some more buttons according to some. Many have expressed the wish to see the VX Nano in a Bluetooth version.

It seems Trust have started to offer some really interesting alternatives. Now, before the "Logitech and Microsoft lifetime fans" start spreading the gospel saying all other brands are bad, I would suggest people to at least give these mice a chance. I haven't tested these, but based on specs they seem very interesting.

I think the following mouse might be particular interesting as it comes with the following specifications:

    - Bluetooth without dongle
    - Laser sensor
    - 6 buttons
    - Power switch
    - DPI switch
    - Compact size
    - Quite nice design (albeit not as shiny as i.e. the VX Nano)

It's called the Bluetooth+ Laser Mini Mouse MI-8700Rp. See the specs here:
    http://www.trust.com/products/defau...=MICE-NOTEBOOK&type=WIRELESS-LASER&item=15352

Information about their Notebook mice collection can be found here:
    http://www.trust.com/products/default.aspx?cat=_Current&grp=MICE-NOTEBOOK

For those who like full size mice, the Desktop collection can be found here:
    http://www.trust.com/products/default.aspx?cat=_Current&grp=MICE-DESKTOP

Regardless of whether people like this mouse, I have yet to find another Bluetooth mouse which is so packed with features.

    What do you think?

Yeah i have a V270 and it lacks in buttons. For some reason it also picked up the designs on my mousepad so if i were to move my mouse straight across the pad, the cursor would move in a weird and seemingly random way.
This Trust brand seems promising because it has good specs, but i have not heard of this company up until now (is it just me)?
I have also been looking for a decent mouse to replace my v270, cause i think its just crap.

To me a good mouse in general would not have such a plastic-like feel, or be meant for both right and left handers at the same time. Of course maybe i've just been spoiled by my G7 :/

I just wish Logitech would make a bluetooth version of one of the revolution mice.

Though, this mouse you have pointed out does look fairly nice. I wouldn't be against trying one.

It might not be so strange that you haven't heard of Trust as it is a European company (don't know which country). Maybe some of the US guys can inform whether Trust is being sold in the US? Did a quick 30 second search and couldn't really find any American websites carrying their products.

All I know is that Trust has existed for as long as I can remember in Europe, where I used to live. It seems their products have evolved a lot compared to some of the earlier products I bought from them.

It used to be considered a cost-efficient/low-priced producer of IT gadgets/accessories. Don't really know what their status is today. I can however say that the Trust products I had (which are more than 10 years old) were no frills accessories that did what they where supposed to do.

Does anybody have some information to share on the current state of Trust products, especially their mouse products?

In any case, I think I'll pick up the MI-8700Rp when it becomes available and give it a go. I'll make sure to post a review in due time.

It would be interesting to see how it works out if you end up trying one of their products, i'd like to know how it ends up.

Looks pretty standard to me, id give it a go if the price is right.

I think the bad thing with bluetooth is even tho it does not require inserting and removing a dongal wich many consider an inconvience, that you have to sync up with the device every time you turn on the computer, to me thats just as much if not more of a hassle. So unless your in dire need of free usb ports I think the new logitec nano is the best one out there, and it looks like a better mouse overall aswell.

Aside from the lack of the scroll wheel and the bulge along the right side, this looks like a cross between the VX Nano and the regular VX. Like extremely similar. Frighteningly similar. So similar it makes you go hrmmmm.... I mean it goes right down to the finger grooves. I wonder if many of the external components are made by the same manufacturer.

well what about the weight of the mouse? How heavy is it? What kind of battery does it use? What are its dimensions? What's the estimated battery life?

None of these information were given out on their site. All it says is "long battery life" but how is that defined?

The price also is not stated on their website and for a Canadian consumer like myself it's very hard to give this product a go especially if I've never seen it at any local computer stores =/

I agree, there could be more information available. Remember though, it is not in production yet, but "coming soon". Logitech is not really good when it comes to weight and dimensions either - at least I never can seem to find any info on their website. I am afraid that Trust might not be very available in North America - does anyone know?

Yes I noticed that too. Very similar in design, yet not as flashy looking surfaces. I think it is not unlikely that they use the same suppliers or maybe one company has "borrowed" the design from the other.

What do you mean by lack of scroll wheel? You mean the Microgear scroll wheel?

Thanks Gautam. I am not sure about the size. Something tells me that these mice are at least as small as Logitech's notebook mice. I will go Trust mouse hunting in my local IT mart soon to find out.

FWIW I used Newton's original MoGo Bluetooth PC Card mouse.

After the initial BT pairing, whenever I take the MoGo out of the slot and turn it on, my mouse movements start registering on my laptop in a second or two. There's no need to do any manual sync each time...

I'm not sure though if Bluetooth would limit the sensitivity/performance of a wireless gaming mouse?

Oops, I think the words 'the lack' were extraneous in that sentence. :p

Doesn't look too bad though. I have to admit, despite being BT, I don't think I can live without the MicroGear scroll anymore. Even the heavier wheel itself is amazingly useful for its interia.

Hmm I dunno, I know there was a forum member who stated he has to manually pair his mouse every time he uses it after he shuts down his computer when were were having a usb vs BT discussion. I personally also have to sync up my phone or heatset to my notebook every time I want to use them aswell.

I dont have to search for the device like the first time and enter in a code or anything but I still have to do a reconnection wich is basicly the same thing, I suppose the right software could automate that process.

As for performance... I dunno this thing advertises 800/1600 dpi so the dpi is up there but dpi is not a good way to judge performance since a whole other host of factors need to be taken into account:

    > Responsivness

    > Error correction speed

    > sleep/wake times

    ect...

Perhaps you're right (I've never tried another BT mouse other than the MoGo).

With the MoGo, I have to flip down a lever bar on the bottom of the card (which raises the card off the ground so I can hold it like a mouse). After that I still had to press one of the mouse buttons, before the blue light on the mouse actually comes on and the mouse movements register on the computer. Perhaps the MoGo performs the automatic syncing at some point during this process...

For those who've used a Logitech or MS BT mouse, how do they work?

i've searched for a while for a decent bluetooth mouse, but with little luck. I'm getting the vx revolution. looks nice.

the Trust one looks ok but I would go mad if I had to connect it every time.

Trust is a chinese company. Their products considered being on the low-end of the market. You can find a lot of their products in diffirent areas, but their common thing is that they feel, look and work cheap. They cost nothing though, compared to others, but I would avoid it. I know it because I used to sell them.

I have that mouse, and have major problems with it. I love the feel and size of it, but it looses connection too often because it goes into sleep mode, and shaking it doesn't make it reconnect. Sometimes I can shake it, switch to another mouse (because I hate waiting), and notice after a few minutes that it has reconnected again.

It's too frustrating for me, so I would recommend the MI7600 instead. It's the exact same mouse but USB-connected, with a receiver that can be put inside the mouse, like the VX revolution.

I have a Trust 8800rp which is an 8700rp bundled with a micro 2.0 bluetooth adapter. I have worked recently with a new Microsoft bluetooth mouse, a wireless Lenovo and a wireless Logitech mouse (to which Trust bears a suspicious likeness).

Microsoft: too small, too light, symmetric (good for left handed), bluetooth, matte surface feel, laser (though resolution suffers in some surfaces)

Lenovo: large, too heavy, symmetric, non-bluetooth, rubber surface (best), optical (needs mousepad or compatible surface)

Trust: small, normal weight, right hand design, bluetooth, glossy surface (not to my liking) with rubber grips, laser (compatible with every surface I've tested)

Logitech: small, heavy weight, right hand design, non-bluetooth, matte surface with rubber grips, laser (compatible with every surface I've tested)

I don't have connectivity or stand-by problems with Trust. I am not sure I like this: The Lenovo mouse disconnects after 5 minutes of idleness and I have no problem clicking on the middle button to get it back -- as long as I save battery.

The addition of the micro bluetooth adapter has given full bluetooth capabilities to my laptop and its really so small that I don't have to remove it. I can now synchronize my mobile phone without cables. Logitech's adapter is of micro size as well, but it's not bluetooth.

Laptop owners with internal bluetooth should seriously consider a bluetooth mouse to avoid adapters. If you have no problem with a small mouse the Microsoft is great. If you'd prefer a more ergonomic grip, go with the Trust.

For a laptop without an internal bluetooth, the 8800rp is the best mouse choice available...

Uhm.. what about the Mx revolution bluetooth version??? has enough buttons imo, two scroll wheels.. and you don't _need_ a dongle if you have internal bluetooth. good battery life .

edit: and plus- if you don't use a passkey you can use it for any os.. i triple boot my laptop and it works right away on welcome screen for all 3... don't have to connect/reconnect.
