Before you all start I know the correct way to play PC games is with a mouse and keyboard, it goes without saying!

However, I've just got myself a cheap (but very nice) Windows 8.1 tablet and have installed some games on it. For convenience I've been looking at BT control pads, it seems a lot of them are a bit of a minefield with regards to PC compatibility.

Are there any decent ones which are fully compatible with a PC? I would prefer them to act and feel like an XBox 360 or XBox one controller rather than PS3/PS4 and be automatically picked up by games. Most of the ones I have found are generic PS3 ones, would these work at a pinch with Better DS3?

I don't want any wires, absolutely has to be bluetooth!

PS3 controller with motion joy drivers?

Honestly though, a wired xbox controller will give the best andmost hassle free experience. The wired ones are plug and play, wireless 360 requires an adapter, dunno of you can use a XB1 controller wirelessly.

I think the Better DS3 software and PS3 is what I'll go for, should be cheap enough even though I really don't like Playstation controllers.

I already have USB and wireless XBox 360 pads and the dongle (generic one) which works perfectly, however while that's great for my main laptop for the tablet I want wireless everything purely for speed and convenience. I want to fold the case into a stand, turn on the gamepad and start playing games, I'm used to laptops and handhelds so messing around with OTG cables and hubs is pretty much out of the question, basically I'm lazy and impatient!

Unfortunately it looks like the XBox One pad will also need a dongle or USB connection, shame as it's a nice compact pad. I also looked at the WiiU Pro Controller which does work via bluetooth but the drivers are hacks and analogs aren't properly supported yet - they can be mapped to dpad and buttons though. Hopefully that will get sorted in time.

I do wonder why Microsoft don't encourage in built XBox wireless controller support in laptops and tablets, especially now they are becoming more capable. Should be standard in every PC I think, might write them a stongly worded letter!
