The particular one in question here would be Sony's Dualshock 3 bluetooth controller. Computers can use gaming controllers, and many computers have bluetooth, so would it be possible to use a Dualshock 3 controller from Sony as a gaming controller for a computer? (I would assume you would need a few drivers to support the Sixaxis and Dualshock capabilities, are these available anywhere?)

Currently, the only way to use the Dualshock 3 controller on a computer is via USB cable and a few certain drivers. You should be able to find the drivers via google.

I hadn't even thought of the USB cable XD. Is this because there is no automatic bluetooth pairing feature without the PS3 BIOS?

A quick google search brought up this method for it to function via bluetooth. You could give it a try~

Nintendo Wiimote, works a charm. Takes a bit of work and knowledge but still easier/better than PS3 as there is nothing equivilent to the wiimote wired, but you can get many PS3 type controller clones or just an adapter.

There are also a few "mini pads" targeted for PDA/Smartphone users to play games with but they are incredibly overpriced.

Thanks, Vicious, but somehow I just don't see myself playing Fallout 3 with the Wiimote. That, and carrying around and setting up the sensor bar for the laptop would be a plain nuisance.

Q: Why do Vista and XP require different bluetooth modules?

Only if you want to use the IR functions, you can script it just like an xbox controller using the nunchuck & wiimote combo.

Though I did get a cheap $10 wireless sensorbar so that I can use IR when I feel like it, pretty cool for presentations too :p

They dont, the module is the hardware. maybe you mean the drivers?

Vista and XP require different drivers for a lot of things so its nothing new.
