    Hey everyone,

I've been searching everywhere for this and did find some mice that didn't need an USB dongle to connect but all keyboards seem to come with one.
For me the need for a dongle pretty much renders the whole product useless as my goal is to free up an USB port and always have the keyboard and mouse working without having to plug in anything.

Anyone aware of products that match this?
If not i'm probably gonna go for the radtech bt600 mouse and leave the keyboards connected to my external monitors (which i have to plug in anyway for the card readers etc. to work.

    thx!

Most (if not all) Bluetooth keyboards and mice come with a dongle only to be used by those who don’t have built on Bluetooth. if you have built-in bluetooth then you don't need it.

Ok, that's kinda what i hoped but the one i ordered from Dell don't work without the dongle.

can you name any combo's that are confirmed to work without the supplied dongle?

    Hey there:

I think this one will work:

Kensington K72329US SlimBlade Bluetooth Portable Set with Mouse and Keyboard - $129.99 at amazon.com
    http://www.amazon.com/Kensington-K7...4?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1231253412&sr=1-4

Bluetooth connection leaves your USB port free for other uses,no receiver required.

Almost, all the other *bluetooth* ones I found still had a receiver, so I didn't include them.

    Hope that help!

    Cin ;) :)

    Thx for the reply :D

That kensington set actually seems pretty nice, i like how small it is.
Does someone know for a fact that either of these:
    http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/...etail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=bsd&cs=04&sku=310-7990
    or
    http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/...x?c=us&l=en&s=bsd&cs=04&sku=A0542507#Overview
actually work without the usb receiver...i just can't find a positive anywhere but indeed it seems like most keyboards don't need the dongle.
I really like the look of the Dell keyboard and this was actually the one i ordered but turns out both the image and the description on their site was wrong and they sent me something different....getting a refund now and they let me keep the old set, weird...they don't seem to want it either, lol.

Great, makes it much easier...would the same go for the Dinovo edge then? I'll probably get two the same keyboards for both home and office and get a radtech bt600 mouse for use in both places and on the road. Shame i can't find the Dell branded keyboard separate here, just as bundle...maybe i'll have to get it from ebay...how do you like the dell? feel etc?

I am not 100% sure about the Edge. However all Bluetooth keyboard, mouse etc should work without the dongle if you have built in Bluetooth. You will not be able to use it in BIOs without the dongle however. The Dell keyboard is pretty good, not much to complain about it. It uses 2 batteries too which is a plus as my diNovo uses 4 and seem to drain it faster.

Also the diNovo BT set has an advantage in that the separate media pad is a standalone device. When I go back home I take it with me to use with my MBP as a numpad. Pretty handy. The mouse however is so so. Not a big fan of the MX1000. It is sitting in my drawer somewhere collecting dust.

I think i'll go for the Dell keyboard, i like the slim design of it. I did find out dutch dell doesn't sell it anylonger though, at least not on their site :( Will give them a call to see if they can get me 2. Could order them through ebay from the US but last time i did that it took 5 weeks to get here because od customs!!
