So you heard my model is a good one or the NV?
-
-
It's actually V470, it looks like is a good one as many people are very satisfied with it.
-
My mouse is a V470??
-
Sorry, I got mislead when you said that you had a M/n: M-rbb93.
Then, you probably got a bad mouse, that's all, but the V470 has an excellent review, though. -
Damn......
-
As for batteries consume, I'm not sure. I've only had it for 2/3 weeks. But a review I've read says that it lasts +/- 4 months.
And the delay, waking up (but from an alreay "on" state), is really small. Less than 1 second, probably.
This mouse is OK, but it's not spectacular... I thought it was just like the ThinkPad Travel Mouse I already owned, but just cordless. I was wrong. It's bigger and I think the scroll wheel of the Travel Mouse is prettier.
Also, the 2 AA batteries make the mouse a tad heavy. Don't forget that. I would prefer less battery life and only one battery weight. -
I have a laptop that has built-in bluetooth. Do you think I should go for the Bluetooth Logitech V470 or the Cordless Logitech VX Nano?

VX Revolution!

The Fire Snake Notebook Virtuoso
I just wanted to report back. I got my Vx Revolution and tried it yesterday for about an hour and all I can say is I love it!
Here are some impressions/points about it...
1.) It is wicked comfortable, fits perfectly in my hand and just the right size. Not bulky and not tiny like laptop mice.
2.) Uses only 1 AA battery and it is included. How can you hate that?
3.) The battery compartment is a little weird. I didn't see which way to align the battery(i.e. is the positive side up or down?). I didn't see and plus or minus icons anywhere. I chose one of the orientations and it worked so all was well.
4.) I wish the power button on the underside was a little bigger, but once again no big deal.
5.) Mouse moves awesome, no lag, skipping etc. No reception problems at all, but I use my mouse in close proximity to the laptop anyways.
6.) Scroll wheel is awesome. I love it. Very smooth and the option to turn to click wheel. It is hard to go back to a regular mouse after using this.
7.) Did not even need to install any drivers or setpoint software and both mouse buttons, scroll wheel and back and forward buttons work out of the box. The Zoom and search buttons don't seem to work out of the box. Will probably install Setpoint to play with it.
8.) Used mouse for normal websurfing, text docs was perfect. Decided to play DOOM3 with it. The mouse worked great. Super accurate no problems what so ever. I don't think I will want to go back to a wired mouse again.
9.) Only thing I wish was that it had no dongle and was bluetooth to make use of my integrated Bluetooth. The dongle however is very small and thin.
Overall I am very happy with this mouse. My decision was between this and the thinkpad bluetooth mouse. I think the bluetooth mouse is nice as well for people who already have bluetooth in the machine. Maybe I will try it sometime.
If you have any questions just ask. -
About the power button, why do you need it?? The mouse is automatically turned off when you insert the receiver in it, and turned on when you release it.
I've been using it for 2 months now and it's great!! THe only problem I found was when I used my laptop next to my ADSL router (wifi) and I tried to copy some files from my desktop using the LAN (shared folders). The mouse lagged a lot and it was unusable. It's a problem of interferences between RF and WIfi, and I think it does affect more mice, but anyway it was only punctual and when copying files from one computer to another. -
VX nano is good too, especially for the extra featured switch.

As far as interference I am not sure. I was on the cordless 2.4Ghx phone yesterday while using my laptop and mouse and I didn't have much problems. The mouse seemed to behave properly. There was a bit of crackling on the phone but it has been doing that even before the mouse. Haven't had the mouse long enough to know what else can cause me problems. I haven't tried the scenerio you mentioned with transfer of files. if I do I will keep and eye on the mouse. -
I could not believe this went for 7 pages, so I came to the end. Yes, EXCELLENT choice (see signature
)! I did install the setpoint sw because I wanted to adjust some of the default settings. However, if you remove the dongle, the settings do not necessarily stick. I have to occasionally go back and adjust my scroll speeds as they will default back to "slow"!
I use mine daily - 8-10 hours most days - and the battery lasted me for 2 months. I never turned it off. I have not used a mouse for over 10 years on my laptops and now with the VX, I can hardly use the touchpad! -
My laptop only has 2 USB ports...do you think I should get the Vx Revolution or go with BT Logitech V470 (also will the V470 work with Vista x64?)
-
I seem to repeatedly break my dongle from whipping my hand(nono silly) beside my laptop to rest it on my desk.
A bluetooth mouse would help me wonders with my laptop if anyone can find a good recommendation. -
-
LOL. I read this whole thread and am in awe of the sheer amount of comparison and thought process involved in choosing a simple mouse. I'd hate to see the OP when shopping for something larger such as an automobile.
-
Also, I really like my VX! Even after having to fork out just as much as I had paid for it originally for a new receiver. -
LOL! Fair enough.

. I love to research something throughly before I buy it. I hate buying something, hate it and have to keep it in a box somewhere and then buy another thing to replace it. Funny thing is I pretty much know what car I am getting next. I am surprised that there were so many posts on this thread too, but I am glad. I am sure it should help prospective buyers.
-
Will a Bluetooth mouse like the V470 work well in a lecture hall? Will there be interference from other laptops, etc?
-
I think it is awesome that you went this deep into what mouse to get.
FWIW, I have the Dell BT mouse linked in the beginning of this thread. I got it as a combo with a BT keyboard when I got a new laptop a few months ago. The mouse mostly performs great, but it does suffer from the half-second lag when you do not use it for a while. Additionally, maybe 5 to 10 times in the 3-4 months I've had it, I have had to reset the bluetooth/wifi adapter to get the computer to recognize the mouse after an extended period without use (overnight for instance). I have literally turned the thing off a handful of times since I've had it and the batteries have held up so far.
It comes down to whether you prefer to have to wait a half-second every so often for your mouse to kick back in or if you would rather have a dongle. For me, a dongle was out of the question, especially with built-in BT. I am not an avid gamer, but I do have Half-Life 2 and I can play it just fine with this mouse. I can't think of many games where you are inactive with the mouse for 10 seconds where the inactivity thing would be an issue. That said, if I was big into gaming I think I'd get a USB controller as opposed to using a mouse.
One major thing so far, however, is when I have both the BT mouse and keyboard on at the same time, they will not work correctly. The mouse performs movements nothing like what I am attempting and the keys on the keyboard don't work right. I'm sure this is a known issue and there is probably a fix, but I haven't needed the BT keyboard yet. I will once my new monitor shows up next week though, so I hope it is an easy fix.
edit: to point out that I think Logitech makes the dell mouse -
I totally understand, I was just razzin ya a little. All in good fun. -
-
I personally didn't like the V470... it has a small but bulbous shape I found unconfortable... I'm much happier with my new Kensington Slimblade Trackball Bluetooth mouse. The Kensington has a larger and flatter shape that I find more comfortable.
I should add though that the V470 did work fine, I just didn't like it. I'll be selling my V470 at some point when I get around to it....
Anyway, the VX Rev is somewhat larger than the V470, so if you don't mind the dongle, it could be nice. It also has a few extra buttons I think. -
Are the new Logitech micro-receivers compatible with older mice?
Because the old receivers size is my only complaint to the RF mice. And I'm not sure I want to buy the MX air. -
Hmm, after buying a new receiver for my VX, I dropped it and broke the scroll wheel. Guess it's my turn to shop for a new mouse. How do you people like the MX revolution?
-
I have the wireless MX 3200 set and it runs like a charm; I can game with the mouse easy and the keyboard pressing gives a good feel with not much pressing noise.
I just have a huge paranoia I'm gonna break that receiver one of these days. -
I'm looking for a mouse as well and I really loved the feel of the VX Revolution. I was in the same position in that I did not want to have a dongle in my thin sharp laptop. But, I saw that when you buy the VX Revolution mouse and keyboard set, both items are bluetooth.
Wouldn't the bluetooth VX Revolution be the perfect solution? I think I may buy just the mouse from Amazon, then buy the mouse and keyboard from Circuit City, switch the mice and return mouse and keyboard.
I just think that it would be ideal to have the VX Revolution AND have no dongle. thoughts? -

The Fire Snake Notebook Virtuoso
My only complaint with the VX rev is the dongle(though it is very small). But who know, If I had a bluetooth mouse I might have other problems.
Ps. - I went to Logitech's site and only saw combos with the MX revolution not the VX. Where did you see the Vx combo?
I don't think it is a good idea to do the switch plan you are mentioning though. It is unethical and could cause you other problems, as in you could get in trouble or be charged later for the missing product - just be honest.
