Hello.... i was thinking of getting a bluetooth mouse for my W7J.

However... Bluetooth mouse means i cant disable bluetooth card, and save battery power when not at an outlet.

I wonder, is there a bluetooth mouse that is BOTH?

Like... i can use it cordless (bluetooth) when plugged into the AC, but can connect it to the USB to charge the mouse batteries, and use it as a USB mouse (to turn off Bluetooth and save battery) when on battery power?

Ive seen alot of mentions on optical mice (with dongles) that can do this... or rather, i did see "a" mention of that, somewhere. Any bluetooth mice though that do this, and are recommendable? =/

    thanks in advance

Assuming that the BT mouse you speak can run through USB (which I doubt...tell me what model you are talking about) then it may work.

In all likelihood, you are going to have to keep that BT radio running even when on battery. It should not consume as much juice as your WLAN wi-fi card will - Bluetooth was designed with low power consumption in mind (hence the weak ~30 ft range)

Those in particular seem tempting, but it seems that they just recharge while in USB mode, but dont "track" through the USB.

hmmm... So bluetooth doesnt actually waste alot of power? I always hear everyone saying "turn off the WiFi and Bluetooth and check battery, etc etc" I figured it was a decent battery hog. =/

I wonder what the difference would be between it on and it off. hmmmmm........

I've only seen lasers that charge by USB, which was a pretty nifty Gigabyte mouse.

Thought it'd be openly welcome :D

From my quick glance at that link, I think my inital thoughts were right. The mouse just draws a "trickle" charge from the USB to charge NiMH batteries.

You will need the BT radio on. Like I said before, people who tell you to turn wi-fi off if you are not using it are right - wlan cards need to work very hard to get signals.

BT on the other hand is very low power consumption. (think ULV) Think about bluetooth headsets - they are tiny, and get many hours of usage.
