Are bluetooth mouse worth it? My notebook (HP DV2000t) will be having a bluetooth function included in it so should i get a bluetooth mouse? The only thing that is stopping me from getting one is that ive read some reports that states that bluetooth mouse eats up battery very fast as against normal wireless mouse such as the MS4000/6000 and Logitech V450, which lasts from 6months to 1 year. Bluetooth mouse only lasts from 3weeks to 3months. Is this true?
Should i sacrific battery life for the convenience of not putting a dongle in my USB slot? Or would it be wiser for me to just buy an optical/laser wireless mouse that has roughly 2-3x more battery life in it?
Im now contemplating on getting either the microsoft 4000 or 6000. I'd also like to include the Logitech V450 but it doesnt have a button on the thumb. Id like to consider the others too but im limited to this because i need to have at least 4 buttons... scrollbar button = COPY , left thumb button = paste
thanks.

I personally find that the bluetooth mouse is much nicer and the only reason is because there is no cord. However, they are just as reliable as a USB mouse. I live my V270 and the battery life will go a long ways if you turn it off when your not using it. Check out Logitech's V270.

yeah i saw the V270 but the thing is, it doesnt have a button near your thumb which i need so that i can assign it to the PASTE function.

I can tell you right now that bluetooth does eat about the battery and very quickly. Having BT on and doing some web browsing only lasted me BARELY 2 hours. If you're looking to be unplugged and mobile for longer periods of time I would definately recommend a USB based wireless mouse. But if you aren't going to be unplugged for long periods of time I would definately go with a BT mouse, just because of the convenience of not having to have a usb dongle or battery life of a usbwireless mouse to deal with.

Oh yes and I have the 6-cell battery so it might be different for the 12-cell.

thanks for the reply balr.
so say that when you use the bluetooth mouse, the mouse's battery only lasts 2 hours from full charge? wow thats fast considering that the non blue tooth mouse goes on for 3months upto 1 year before you charge it's battery. -
I think balr is saying that the BT mouse is dropping his notebook's usage time on battery power down to 2 hours, at least that's how I'm interpreting it

Battery life is pretty comparable between my Bluetooth and non-bluetooth MX1000 mice. I use the non-bluetooth more (with my desktop) so it's hard to say exactly, but I'd say there isn't a massive difference between the two.
As far as laptop battery, I don't imagine internal bluetooth could use much more battery than a USB adapter. -
I agree BT doesn't drain laptop battery life by much, maybe 10mins or so less with it always on but then again you don't need to have BT always on. Most laptops have a handy switch or shortcut keys to turn it on or off.
Regarding battery life of BT mice, some last longer than others. The best is probably the Logitech v270 which people use for months without replacing (heard people claiming 6 months+).
Bluetooth mouse worth getting over optical/laser?
