I'm picking these up for $25 tomorrow, good deal? How do these perform?
-
Bose products universally have a reputation for being overpriced, underperforming products. The general consensus is that you can find much better products for the money you pay.
Having said that, the speakers you mention are $100 retail. I'd say that $25 is about the right price for them in terms of actual value. As for their performance... well, they will sound like $25 speakers. They are probably going to be the best sounding $25 speakers you will find, but you can easily get much better sound if you bump up your budget a bit. -
As far as underperforming, I must disagree, but in terms of performance versus price, then I would agree. you can get better products than Bose for less money.
However, in this case, I see no reason why this isn't a bad deal (unless the speakers don't work). -
Keeping in mind that determining audio quality is for the most part subjective, Bose offers a practical product at a not unreasonable price. Their best credit is that they are virtually bullet proof and can be hooked up to almost anything. Few manufacturers offer a product with as wide a compatibility.
