I love my Sony MDR-V150. Have had a pair for years. I stepped on them and broke them a long time ago, but was able to just slide the little metal bar in to hold the headphone in place, but I finally lost it. Put a new pair on my Christmas list, they are only $20.

Sennheiser HD201. You can find it for under $20. Doesn't fold, but they're fairly compact and pretty all-purpose, being closed (but not hugely isolating).

Sound is - well, you get what you pay for (unlike many gushing reviews of the phone). But it is fair value soundwise, and phenomenally well designed for a dirt-cheap phone - and even this ships with Sennheiser's 2-year warranty.

The Sony V-series are trash from a sound perspective - The V700 is the only (dim) highlight of a excremental bunch. The build quality is good though.

I love my v700's. Best headphones I've ever used. Of course they are also the most expensive headphones I've ever used. so my knowledge is limited.

the other v series aren't too bad either., from what I've listened too. especially for a 30 dollar budget.

I have a pair of Sony MDR-XD200s and Sennheiser HD201s.

    Great headphones, would recommend both.

If I were you OP, I'd save up a little more money and get some higher tier headphones. That's what I did when I bought my HD 650's rather than some cheaper headphone. Probably one of the best decisions I ever made.

Just go to the nearest store that would sell any headphones and buy some. In the $20 price range I just don't think it is worth the search.

Around laptops i come on this site to learn. Sound is my profession and these are my go to "cheap" Headphones. Great sound, comfortable and they fold right up. The last point is the drawback for they can be "vulnerable" due to open design. You might want to stay away if you are very rough with your phones. Otherwise you can not do better at this great price, $30 shipped. I usually pay $40.
