I won't make this long, I was just wondering if a good quality theater room can be had for a tight (er) budget?
TV:
1) At least 40"
2) 1080p
3) No more than $800
Speakers:
1) Preferably surround sound (5.1)
2) No more than $250
Everything else I've figured out, thanks!

You could probably find a good sized TV during Black Friday to complete your home theatre. I think Dell has some deals and I know Micro Center has a few decent choices.

Pioneer HTZ262DVD
this can be had for around $250 because i bought it in singapore under promotion for $260 and that was a year back.
very good for movies..has lot of DSP's for special effects but overall its not good for music.
i have this for my 40" Sony bravia V series... although i hardly use it..more for family members.

I highly recommend the Logitech Z5500 5.1 Speakers.
I have them and they are phenomenal for the price. They sound similar to my dads $3,000 setup. In fact, the bass is even better than my dad's, and I paid $200 for them on sale.
I don't think I can post links because I have a low post count but search for "Z5500" on Amazon[dot]com and they should be first on the list for $220. -

Thanks for the recommendations, I'm looking into the z5500 right now, especially since they meet all the requirements. The Pioneer speakers look excellent, but I can't find them for any cheaper than $300 (I'll do some more searching later to see if I can find better deals).

get a z5500 for movies and games... if you are a music lover, then you should reconsider... becasue z5500 has too much base

get the z-5500 /close thread

My only concern is that they are computer speakers, and that bookshelf speakers and other home audio speakers are much better for movie viewing. Although, most of the reviewers on Newegg use it for movies and compare it to much more expensive equipment. Just want to make sure

You can adjust bass on the Z5500.
