Just buy a U3 and use the fans out of that?

Yeah that's one way, but I don't want to pay more than I need to :( when a 80mm fan is only like $3. Should be about a $10 mod if I can figure it out.

    3-80mm fans, heat shrink wrap

Not sure how to put together a speed controller

If you want to run them by USB they have to be 5v, i thought those were more pricey? Could be wrong though.

Not sure, I was thinking about just wiring it all to a 12v adapter. Been looking around and it's hard to get these 80x80x10mm fans  there's a couple on ebay. hmm..

Forgive me for the necropost, but this thread is begging for a revival.

Why settle for low quality fans when you can put the best in? The Notepal Ux is a very good platform to mount new fans. From post #154 and onward. http://forum.notebookreview.com/sager-clevo/416414-clevo-m570tu-cooling-overhaul-16.html

And to answer your suggestion, gtsXracer, you will kill your 5V fans very easily that way. Unless you like the grinding sound of 140% overvolted fans, or replacing them frequently, it's not a good idea to do so.

If you insist on just getting more Ux fans, I have some for sale. I am sitting on a whole box of U1, U2, and U3 fans.

You can put at most either two 140mm, three 120mm, or four 92mm or 80mm fans in the rear row of the U3. You can put more near the center and the front, however you will need to get slimmer fans as I mentioned in my guide.

The 3 pin connectors need not be touched. Just pick up three of the 3 pin to 4 pin molex adapters (the one that I linked has a 4 pin pass through so you can chain them together), mounting pins, and a PSU. Read over my guide again.
