When i turn on CMSS 3D i feel a much bigger soundstage. This is great for music/movies

Im wondering if this better "soundstage" will be better for games (or mostly FPS games) such as Counter Strike Source?

Also, i ordered a Sennheiser HD 555 and its on the way here so im curious

    Thanks!

P.S move to correct forum if this isnt the right spot. Thanks!

HD 555 sound very good i think. i prefer the slight more bass you get from these compared to the Grado SR80s, however the grados have better mid through to high. its down to personal taste. either way they are a good choice. well done.

CMSS maaaaay help slighty, however in my experience ive found it more confusing than helpful. do some tests and record your Kill Per Death ratios to compare.

just out of curiosity what soundcard do you have? with headphones like that it might be worth getting an external soundcard as it will improve the quality dramaticly. M audio are some of the best if you can afford it.

I currently have an external sound card..

it is the Creative X-Fi 5.1 Surround Sound USB sound card.

    :) it is really nice!

I liked the 3d CMSS Headphone mode of my X-Fi card for games. FPS games the best. BF2 was almost made to work with that seamlessly.

I would not use it for music though it would butcher the original sound. Crystalizer is ok though for making music sound a bit nicer and not distorting the original sound.

I can't do any kind of EQ / sound manipulation on my music, it bothers me too much.

CMSS 3D does work well in CS:S.

CMSS 3D is artificial sound effect which makes good headphones like HD555 sound like they crapped in their pants.

HD555 has a large soundstage by default..so use them without any artificial sound effects and u ll enjoy them.

i can say this because i owned then with X-fi for long time ..and did tons of Counterstrike gaming.

CMSS 3D uses psychoacoustic modelling to create virtual sound stage...its not real and it has all the wrong tone.

Yeah, with all the creative products I used I chose to turn their marketing off, I mean their features. Now I don't buy creative's stuff, but the HD555's are worthy of buying.
