how can i buy two..
isnt it out of stock? -
No. I have a Corsair Voyager 16GB. If it doesn't say "GT" it's *not* the fast version. This thing is much slower than their GT products. I dunno if they have a 16GB GT now, they didn't when I bought mine a year or two ago.
I partitioned mine and copied the Vista media to the first partition; you can boot and install from it no problem. I don't remember what extra steps were needed to make it bootable, googled for web sites for that. There's plenty of howto pages out there. (Windows and the install media won't boot from anything besides the first partition. I have a Ubuntu image on the second partition...) -
My bad. I just got the email this morning from their newegg daily deals notice.
Looks like this deal was popular enough for them to sell out in under 12 hours ; / -

From all the reviews I read, the 16GB flash drive is slow, not close to the GT series. I also agree it is ugly as hell, one of the reasons I didn't go for it. I am not feeling the rubberized look. Also something to keep in mind, the bigger the flash drive the slower it is in general. Also the bigger flash drives do better with a few large files than many small ones. It is vice versa for the smaller flash drives.

As an idea, i wouldn't recommend buying a ruber flash drive. They may be shock and water proof, but there's one thing that will easily kill them : BENDING. So, i think you should go for a rigid drive(strong plastic or metal if you can afford it).

I was interested until I saw the thing...God awful is all I have to say.

Eh. It's in my pocket most of the time, who cares how it looks?
The big problem with the case design is that it's too fat, and tends to block adjacent USB ports. It comes with a 6" extension cable to avoid that problem, but it's still kind of a hack (I never carry the cable around. No idea where it is now.)
As for size/density vs speed - there's really no correspondence. There are fast 8GB and 16GB drives, and there are slow ones. (I think the OCZ Rally Turbo is a fast 16GB drive.) It just depends on the controller that the vendor used.
In the Corsairs, the difference is the 8GB and smaller GT units used SLC flash, while the 16GB uses MLC. Higher density, slower access times. Oh well.
