Do you think there is much product research going into making cables and plugs smaller, lighter, and thinner? Carrying around the notebook is not that much of a problem. It's those darn cables and the brick that come along with it that stinks. This, to me, seems like an area that gets completely overlooked by the industry.
Plus, I'm one of those people that can't stand the sight of cables, yet it is almost impossible to set up a system without wires coming out from all over the place. I know there is a thread for setups, but if anyone can post a very clean set up Id' like to see it and would like to congratulate you for your hard work to make it happen.

well with those guys at mit working on wireless electricity lol

Whoever invents that will become a bijillionaire. Though I bet you cancer rates will go up in proportion to the number of wireless electricity units sold.

Wireless electricity. Now that's what I'm talking about, but I want it now and cheap.
Anyway, a little closer to reality, why can't a network cable, for example, be made half as thick? Why can't a USB cable be made so that there is nothing but cable left to come out of the port or maybe even a USB cable with a 90 degree angle at the end? -
If you wanted to deal with 2 unsheathed with plastic wires in all your devices, then yes, you could make them thinner. They are as thick as they need to be, companies want to spend as little on materials, yet make their products durable enough. I'm pretty sure you can't make the cords you have any better than they already are for the most part.
USB cable with a 90 degree angle? They probably exist, but even still, that is a niche market. Get your own plastic making/molding machine and make your own USB cords. Ya can't have everything... which sucks, because I want everything too
