I'm looking for a laptop remote control that will fit my A8Js express card slot. Seems like the only ones in the market is HP's, and Interlink's.

I like HP's cause it doesn't stick out and has more buttons, and not to mention cheaper. So I was wondering if anyone have tried using it on another laptop. If you have other better suggestions, please do tell. Thanks.

I pointed my HP remote at a new Toshiba notebook but it didn't seem to do anything. I'll have to research it more.

I have tried it with two Dell notebooks and it didn't work. Thats not to say that it won't work on any others though, long as they are equipped with and IR Port.

Generally not. There are a set number of frequencies that IR can use, and then it would have to send out the proper recognizable code.
There maybe a chance that it will work, but it's a long shot. Now, if you can reprogram it like a univ. remote, then maybe.
Think of it like this... You have a Sony TV remote, what is the likely hood that it would work with a Sanyo, Toshiba, etc?
