I think Sony Memory Sticks should be able to save data files no problem. I heard before that they partnered with Epson printers so that users can just save documents on Memory Sticks and stick 'em into Epson printers to print the documents needed.

You might want to save them in a certain folder though as they might corrupt the database (since I think Sony has their own formatting for the card, I have one for the PSP and its according to Music, Videos, Saved Games, etc.)

Don't take my word for it though as I'm not 100% sure. I use more SD and SDHC cards and they work fine when saving data files.

SD cards and Memory Stick Pros are still memory. You can save whatever you want on it, so long as it fits.

It's only for cameras if you format them according to the camera's folder scheme. If you put a word document (.doc) in a DCMI of course it won't read it on the camera since DCMI is a folder for Digital Camera Images. Same goes for saving an excel file in the SaveData folder of my PSP Memory Stick Duo. They won't be read by the device and might cause database errors. Like Mastershroom said, SD cards are still memory and you can put anything digital on them.

that's why a smart way to save on memory is to use an SDHC card reader (get a small one), and upgrade your SDHC card as you go along, or wait for a good/cheap sandisk special/rebate where you buy 3 cards to get the max rebate back

I use Sony memory sticks mostly for my PSP. As I started downloading more/bigger games & video, I would buy larger memory sticks and just using the smaller ones as portable storage. There are plenty of adapters to connect a memory stick to your PC (I just connect my PSP to my PC to access the stick).

i've been using all 3 of mine for storage ever since my psp broke. You usually get a Memory Stick Pro Duo Adapter when you buy one of the sony cards.

even when i used them with my psp i would just put files in a separate folder, even if it was in one of the psp folders it won't show up, usually.

I've used SDHC cards for backing up important files, not only pictures but documents, programs, etc. Why use memory cards? The are cheap, small and have decent transfer rates.
