Hey everyone, i have been recently looking at backpacks for college and i came along across the Bumbakpak
    http://www.amazon.com/BumBakPak-Hybrid-Messenger-Backpack-Titanium/dp/B000K8IRES/ref=cm_cr_pr_pb_t

Its laptop compartment is 14.4"L x 10.5"W x1.5"D and i plan to get a thinkpad t500 which is 14.1" x 10/10.9" x 1.8". Think i could somewhat force it in or should i look elsewhere for a backpack with a larger compartment. Other than that i may look at a Swissgear backpack that are sold at a local Sam's Club for around the same price.

a), i wouldn't try to force a laptop into the compartment

b), think your shoulders would hurt less if you get a real backpack that has padding(those two-straps ones)....seriously.... you have a 5.7 pound laptop... .. your 'hybrid' backpack's straps looks unpadded

I've never come across the Bumbakpak before. I would recommend considering Samsonite or SwissGear backpacks.

Hi Rikimusha. I own two BBP Hamptons; the XL and the small size. The Street Flow is identical to the Hamptons with the exception of the front flap, which does not have the three pockets.

BBP is conservative when they measure the dimensions of the laptop compartment; my Hamptons can fit a notebook size slightly larger than what they advertise. So you should be able to fit your ThinkPad in the bag.
