I feel this is good range of cash I'm willing to spend for buying a decent mouse for my new laptop (and no, I don't like tiny mice but not huge ones either).

Does anybody know any good mice in this price range? Can't seem to find any that offer a good design, set of features and price all in one :(. I don't care about corded or cordless. Gaming grade is cool, but not required. All I'm asking is find the best mouse for ~$50 for me. Amazon & online stores allowed, just not ebay (cant access my ebay @ this moment).

Please don't recommend the following: Logitech VX Revolution, G5, MX518 ... reviewing this myself.

    Thanks

Where!? That thing is so expensive...I want it so bad! How big is it? My thumb to pinky distance is 5-6"...I hope it's not wider than that. I heard its big.

    http://www.razerzone.com/p-69-razer-deathadder-gaming-mouse.aspx
    http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicat...&cm_mmc_o=TBBTkwCjCVyBpAgf mwzygtCjCVRqCjCVRq

Get it for $40 at TigerDirect if you use Microsoft Live shopping.

Or you could get the Salmosa for $40, but you lose a lot of features with the Salmosa. Razer's mouses are definitely better than any of Logitech's, especially in comfort and accuracy. I have the Razer Lachesis and I've tried a few of Logitech's mouses (especially the MX Revolution) and the Lachesis beats it hands-down.

Why does it beat the MX Revolution?

I actually want both of them but can't pick between. Not sure how Razer wins though. If you would be so kind to explain...

I would stick to Logitech mice; they have a good warranty, and are very reliable.

Get Logitech's VX Nano (wireless), if the MX Revolution's too expensive - it's remarkably similar in features & look:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826104080

For a non wireless mouse, I would recommend the MX518 (and actually, I think it's better than the above):

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826104178

(Alternatively a Logitech G5/G7... they might be up to G9 now? for their higher end gaming line).

(note: I find Razer's to be marketed solely to gamers, and are flashy + you're paying for said flash, and are made for large hands).

i would take a razer deathadder over a lachesis, more comfortable shape + better drivers.

I have 4 logitech G5 mouses, they are great. I got all of mine for less than $50.
The 2 button version rules. However I did not like the blue, so I moded the plastic piece which comes with the one button one, so I have a hybrid g5. ;)

great mouse, I have to say, but it cant beat the deal I got on a $30 microsoft mouse at my office max which after rebate was $1. That mouse is still working today, and that officemax is long gone

I've never personally tried the Razer Deathadder, but I do have the Razer Lahcesis and my dad has the MX Revolution. The truth is that once you try the comfy, yet extremely durable rubber surface on the Lachesis/Deathadder, any plastic mouses feel kind of weird. The main reason is comfort. Accuracy is at least 30% better on Razer mouses, too, which is very worthwhile.

I love Logitech too! But I feel the Nano is super tiny, my hands are not that small :(. I generally like both my thumbs and my pink to curl in and touch the edges of the mouse (claw grip for me).

Also, seems like Razers compete like hell with Logitech. Not which one one of the two to pick x_x.

Buy both and return the one that you don't like? You give to give each one a few days to get used to it, though. I'm seriously really impressed with how comfortable Razer's mouses are. Even if you're not a gamer, that's the main reason to still get one. Better performance and accuracy doesn't hurt either.

Yeah, it's on the small side, but I find the MX5xx line to be on the large (but comfortable) side. The Nano would be a backup mouse for me, because I dislike wireless, but it fits my hand pretty well. MX518 is my budget gaming recommendation (<3 wired mice).

The specs on the Razer mice look nice, but they're crazy flashy and kind of expensive (boo!!). You guys are making me look at newer mice (are there any Razer mice that don't glow ? ;)) ; I have a trusty MX510 that I've cleaned and taken care of for years ($15).

If you mean can't, you can. You can actually control the different areas where it lights up to have them on or off, which is a good feature.

Agreed, I'm not a heavy gamer and have no need for the ultra sensitive, ultra high dpi stuff; but the comfortability of the DeathAdder is just ridiculous. I originally was a bit worried about the fact I spent 60 bucks on a mouse, and thought that the whole ergonomic design/rubber top was just a gimmick (a mouse is a mouse right?). After getting it and getting used to it, my old mouse feels really strange for some reason; can't see myself going back. And the statement about Razer mice being geared for people with larger hands is simply untrue. I have very small hands, and the DA is perfect with my palm grip.

I'm probably sounding like a broken record, but I would recommend the DA to anybody. As long as they're right handed of course.

Recently got the Razer DeathAdder with the exact mat.
WOW, all I can say is WOW. Worth all the 80$ spent on both...

Getting the Razer barracuda headsets for the ultimate gaming arsenal :D

I used to be a Razer fan however now Iv completely switched over to Logitech. I had a Razer Diamond Back and Copperhead. However Razer's is no where as good as Logitech's. Also I find that Logitech mouse to be more comfortable as they are designed for right handed people (sorry lefties). I currently use a G7 for gaming and a MX Revolution for everything else. I also have a VX Revolution that I use with my notebook when it is docked and V470 on the go.

I am wondering if I should buy the VX Nano today from Staples. GREAT price. It can replace one of my V450s, which can then be a backup. Somehow I don't want to pass up this price.

Exactly. You're comparing the Diamondback and Copperhead, three year old mouses, to Logitech's newer mouses. If you compared any of Razer's mouse from 2007 and up, you would still see a difference between Logitech and Razer.

Yikes! Their sale is $9.50 more expensive than Newegg's normal price (and $2 more than Amazon's normal price). No no no no! :)

I sort of want to try the Razer mice now, if you can turn off the lights!

edit: Oh wait! Duh, ends 9/13. Aw, what was the sale price?

    Sale price WAS $44.98.

Last time I checked 44.98 was cheaper than 47.99.

    Corded MX518

    Wireless V450 Nano

    Those are both under $50

If you want to spend more

VX Nano or G7 for wireless.

Hot d&mn the VX Revolution is NIIICE!

The size is a perfect medium and will work on any hand! The receiver removal/restore auto-on/off feature is great.

And with the freespin feature, the mouse wheels rolls like it's going down a hill for 15 seconds on a good flick O_O
