I'm looking for a messenger bag for a 13" notebook - only i don't like the nylon material that most of them are made out of. it just feels too cheap to me - too shiny and smooth. i'd like to find a bag made out of cotton or canvas (something like Carhartt). Timbuk2 has one, here but i dont like how floppy and non-rigid the timbuk2 bags are.

Can anyone recommend a rugged, non-nylon, sturdy messenger bag? Thanks!

I got this one, but it is made for 15.4" notebooks. Should still work for 13" though.

Alot darker tan in person though. Almost a green.

    Material: Canvas, Corduroy accent

I actually undertand what you are saying. If you do go with real canvas make sure to waterproof it often if you got with canvas made from cotton, hemp or whatever...they will absorb water.

Something to consider is a higher end bag. Just because something is they same type does not mean it's the same grade. Better material will always mean better durability as well as better feel to it...look how much better 400-600 thread count sheets feel compared to 180-200 thread counts sheets. Same idea holds for bags.

Cordura is a nice material that is still synthetic with all it's benefits but has a feel much more like canvas. Hemp bags have a much better feel to me over cotton canvas plus the hemp is more durable then cotton.
