I am looking for a way to use/charge my IBM/Lenovo T42 in my car. I understand that I can buy a special adapter for car, or a generic voltage inverter to 110V which I can use for other devices as well.

Would you like to share your experiences?

    Thank you

Generic Inverter. Get one rated about 1.5 times the power brick rating, but not more than twice as high wattage. 120 to 150 watt will handle most notebooks.

    Hi

Thanks for the reply. I am not very savvy with electrical power. Here is what's on the notebook adapter:

    Input: 100-240 V ~ 1.9 A, 50-60 Hz
    Output: 16V = 4.5A

What does this mean? What is the wattage I should be looking for?

    Thanks in advance!

I'd like one of these as well. Where can you buy them?

This would be awesome. If I have to evacuate due to hurricane's, I can just plug my notebook in my car? Awesome since this only gets like 1.5 hours of battery life

You sure that'll be able to handle the power a laptop like mine will need?
